Things to do in Bangkok when you are sober?
Guys,
I want to do something this weekend (during the daytime) that does not involve getting hammered.
All I seem to do is drink myself into oblivion all weekend.
What would you recomend for a day out? Such things as a trip on a river boat etc.
Cheers in advance.

Bridge over River Kwai
Take a trip to the Bridge over river Kwai and the War cemetry there. You can do it by boat and have loads of time to see around.Take a camera - the Cemetry is in pristine condition and has the allied war graves from WW2.
Some trips do it by rail on the way there and then return by boat so you havea choice.

river trip is good, there is a tour type desk near the grand palace with some nice trips reasonably priced, also day trip to attungha (spelling wrong) aint to shabby either.temple tours are interesting.
also shopping in the big malls can waste a day.
horse racing on weekends also if that interests you.

Do something very different and unexpected...
A bicycle tour in very interesting areas of the city. Without meeting many cars you will see the city from a very different perspective.

Dreamworld and Siam Park, but obviously not by yourself.
I also like the Crocodile Farm, god knows how many times I've been down there.
There's also that mini village set up with all sorts of miniature models of things down Pattaya way, never been there but would like to check it out one day, then stop at one of the many seafood places on the way back.
Catch a ferry out to Nonthaburi and just walk around near the jetty. Last time there saw a basket full of BBQ rats ready for eating.
I'm assuming you have wheels, take a weekend trip up to Korat

Croc farm sounds good. Any more info on where it is and how to get there?
No wheels mate. I am scared to drive in the UK let alone the wacky races here.

It's down south at Samut Prakarn, I think the mini air con buses have stopped running down there, they used to stop right in front, but a taxi is easy and its not too far. It's a good day out, you must get your picture taken touching a crocodile.

Samut Prakarn.. have never seen so may crocs in my life.. And huge bastards too..
Close to that you have the Ancient City, copies of wats, important buildings and boats. A huge area, took me 2½ hour to drive through it in a cab.
Also Sai See.(spelling...?) A huge park with an enormous Buddha figure is worth a visit..

I have seen a few guys using them round Patong over the years.. Guy riding one down Rat U Thit only a couple of months ago..
You can hack them to remove the 15mph limiter too.. That was put in to avoid lawsuits.. Get 35+ I read !!

Have you seen Wat Arun........with the marble tile pieces all over it.....great at suinrise/set as it really shines............
OR
The King's barges..........these are pretty fab and ornate too!!!!
They are both on the other side of the river to Bangkok proper
My favourite thing to do is just head down to the river and jump on a baht boat..............you can take a trip from Thaksin Bridge to the King's Palace for about 20BHT............or just kick around on one until you get sick of it...........make sure you stand up the back on the outside...much more fun

river and
Various long tail boat tours around the Chao Phraya are a pretty good way spend a few hours and prepare for the evening I'll hire a boat myself and not have to worry about pleasing other blokes...the top of the Bayoike is good as mentioned but it should be a somewhat clear day. A good daytrip to Kanchanuburi (river Kwai) is the weekend train tour the SRT runs, don't expect it to run on-time though, will get back about 8pm. Can do the same on the bus quicker, but then again I really like trains. The daytrip the Oriental does to Ayuthaya does is really good if they are still doing it (take the bus in the morning and the boat on the way back - they feed you!). Oh, and the Chatuchak weekend market is great if it is open, really need to see it. On my next trip I'm going to see a real Muay Thai boxing match so I can't recommend it, yet...

Its far enough away to not be an immediate problem should things go bad, but I would just rent some dvd's and stay in if I were you.
