Might be an odd choice as an introductory post but I am really curious about what sorts of perscription drugs are available in Thailand OTC...I read about Viagra, Kamagra, Cialis etc..what about steroids? Misoprostol and Milferpristone? I read about the scamming use of Rophynol or Roofie-like drugs and Ketamine but are these types of things actually available OTC? What about Human Growth Hormone injections etc...?

More like under the counter.. Not just sold but still available in many pharmacies..

Viagra etc yes.. Ketamine no.. Dont recognise the roid names you mentioned but many are.. HGH can be found I was told but very tough to find.. Roofies etc yes in a few pharmaces..

Misoprostol and Milferpristone have some sort of other medical use, but are widely used to perform self-induced abortions. Does 'under the counter' mean illegal to sell, or illegal to sell without a perscription?

This is a very odd choice as an introductory post , the main drugs you mention have very specific uses.

HGH can be used "for treatment of infertility, ,particularly in females" but can cause "abortions" if used during pregnancy.

Also , Rohypnol and Ketamine are used to provide "short term" anaesthesia for "minor" surgical procedures.

As you are posting from UAE , where unwanted pregnancies can result in loss of job/jail (sex before marrage is illegal) , I am curious about why you are interested in these specific drugs.

Having worked in hospitals in UAE , and knowing the risks of bringing illegal drugs into Middle Eastern countries, I wonder if this is more of a "business" related question than it first appears.

Well yes and no...you are right that there is quite a black market for certain perscription medicines that are banned in the UAE (can you believe viagra isn't allowed?). If you lived in the UAE then for sure you know there is a frequent need for things like the Morning-After pill etc., but I would be too scared myself to try to transport anything like that, customs would slaughter you.

It is just good to know though where people can go to get medicines hassle-free if they are in a pinch.

In my experience you can buy absolutely anything over the counter in thai pharmacies especially in bangkok on sukhumvit road !

but as in previous posts i would not advise anyone to take any drug which has not been prescribed or has been given the go ahead by their own doctor

drugs like viagra,cialis and levitra can be very dangerous to people with high blood pressure !

Mate, you've got to be joking. I have to go to the UAE a lot. A few motnhs ago I went into a chemists for a new G3 razor and they had a cute little dispenser on the counter that sold Viagra in packets of two. I had a laugh about it with the bloke and he told me that, because it was coming up to the end of the month of abstinence, they were selling it like crazy. There were even articles in the local papers about how much of it was being sold - and all without prescription.

Indeed it was, a very odd choice of introductory post.
