Made my day!

Some top news this morning. It looks like my company are about to send me to BKK for ten weeks!

I should find out this week if it's on and hey ho, winging my way to LOS ASAP.

Hope I get a bit more free time this trip, so I can do a bit of scouting for places to take the missus in August.

Beer Sing, here we come!

Work, hmmm. That is indeed the main problem, although getting paid to be somewhere you love ain't all bad.

However, having had work experience with Thais before, I tend to drive them as hard as possible at the start so we can relax towards the end of the project rather than the other way round. They know this and, having seen the advantages (what pressure come deadline time?) they tend to go, albeit kicking and screaming, along with it.

Sooooo, the upshot is a reasonable amount of free time later on. And, of course, there's all their hoidays to take as well as ours. Best of both worlds.

And the best bit is coming home to the UK just in time to get on a flight back for holidays in August.

Ain't life grand?

You'd need to be good with your hands in this job if only to pack and unpack your bl**dy suitcase regularly as the political pendulum in Thailand swings backwards and forwards. "Job's on - job's off"

The project I'm due to work on is currently delayed - theoretically by a month thanks to parliaments dissolution. If this holds, I'll fly out towards the end of this month (possibly). Or it could be six months. Same same as last time!

Out of curiosity (and of course a tad of jealousy), can I ask what line of work you're in White Nancy?

I work in the rail industry and my company is involved in one of the MRT extensions. Fortunately, very little of my work is in the UK, so I have the opportunity to get around a bit. Unfortunately, you tend to work to the whims of governments so it can, as said earlier, be a bit go-stop-go!
