newbe in town
Hello to everyone, as the title suggests this is my first time posting on this
forum. I’ve just booked a two week hol in Bangkok in July with two friends
and reading some of your posts I have to say I am really looking forward to it.
Looking through some of the posts here you guys seems to the best
source of info on Thailand I’ve seen. I know these questions have probably been
answered a hundred times here but any advice would be appreciated.
I’ve been lumped with the task of booking a hotel so im wondering what you guys
would recommend? Take into account im an innocent Irish lad so what im looking for is a hotel that
1) (most important ) If we bring some girls back then there wouldn’t be any hassle/mortification!
2) Noting too shabby, the hotels seems pretty cheap so probably something
between 20 - 40 euro a night.
3) Some place that’s close to the centre of nightlife/girls
I’ve found reviews of Bangkok on other site and they all contradict each other saying Bangkok girls will only do missionary position, noting else so don’t ask!, that they wouldn’t go back to your hotel room because they wouldn’t be left in by reception, also
Don’t drink because they don’t like drunk guys ( obviously not talking about falling down drunk!)
Is this all rubbish???
Finally is there any do or don’t we should know? Excluding all the tourist stuff like pointing soles of your feet at people, touching a persons head etc….
If I get some advice i promise ill post the account of our trip up!

Hi bloke, welcome to the board.
There's bits of truth in everything you read I think, but remember it usually just comes from one person's experience so is normally terribly subjective.
The feet thing is worth knowing, Thais seem pretty sensitive to it. I've never seen any evidence of a problem with that 'don't pat kids on the head thing', women instinctively touch small children in that way, and Thai women are no different. My missus does it all the time.
Reading your post it looks as though you are planning on two weeks in Bangkok. If so, I think that's a big mistake for your first visit. You might consider splitting your time between two places, Bangkok for four days and Phuket for ten, something like that.
You will get loads of specific advice for hotels in that price range, for Bangkok and Phuket. Have a good trip.

Cheers Guys,
Peeter, I never actually noticed the newbe section, just jumped straight to the bangkok one. cheers
Steve, i dont think we have solid plans as of yet, we are definetly
gona stay in bangkok first and then depending on how we're getting on
there go to Phuket or somewhere else as you said. I take it Phuket is the place to go outside Bangkok.
Some of the stuff posted here sounds amazing, just need to brush up
on a few thai words. roll on July!!!!

I agree you should spend most of your time in Phuket and specifically in Patong, I am sure you will love it. Your irish sensibilities will be tested but I am sure you will cope. A holiday in Thailand is great fun and you will not be disappointed. You will find the cost a lot less expensive then holidaying in Europe or its environs.
In regards to the excess consumpion of alcohol I personally have never had a problem despite the fact that I have been pissed from one end of Thailand to the other and enjoyed every moment.
As a son of the soil myself it is nice to know we have another Irish Legend on board and a Dub as well. Wonders will never cease.

The night life in Bangkok is great. Missionary position only--hardly. If you enjoy the standard tourist things such as temples, canal tours, you can fill several days in Bangkok, but two weeks would be way too long. Phuket is highly recommended, but if you want complete, unrestrained debauchery, Pattaya is the only place.

Another Dub... Well there is only one question that needs to be answered here, Are you a Northsider or a Southsider.... Answer carefully...lol..
I will be there for the whole month in July, Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket... And will be there with a few more Board Members from this forum... So you could always come and have a few drinks with us and we could show you around.. But that all depends on your answer to the question above
For a hotel in Bangkok, I would recommend www.majesticsuites.com
Really good hotel and you will have absolutly no problems bringing back any ladies there, Will work out around 30 odd euro a night but its well worth it.. Any other info you need, Just ask I am sure I can help you out

Not only are you from the Southside, But your a Langer aswell (So is Jonny ), Oh hell no, One is enough, Invitation revoked..5555555..
Yes your right I am from the Northside, The opposite side to where all the gay bars are...555555..
You should take a vist down Soi Croc you will feel right at home with all the LBs
Seriously all jokes aside, I normally use www.go4less.ie or www.ebookers.ie and my flights cost 980euro.. I could have got them much cheaper if I had of booked earlier for about 7/750... 1200 is a bit steep to be honest, Most I paid was 1150 but that was with Thai and it was late but they are probably the best to fly with along with Singapore Airlines...
Pattaya is nothing like Phuket to be honest, Its not really a beach resort type of place, Its a full on party town, With girls, girls, girls everywhere.. there is a nice beach there though about 5mins away from the Patts in jomtiem, Its really nice there but nothing like the beaches of Phuket..
Phuket, Patong, Is much more chilled out and friendlier atmosphere there, Its also much smaller with the nitelife much more compact, And although there is tons of girls there (More than enough to go around) its not comparable to the scale of Pattaya, But thats a good thing aswell... Phuket just about shades Pattaya for me, But both are great places for totally different reasons... Both worth a visit IMO...

Well a lot of us will be meeting up around the start of the month and some of us will be doing a short trip to Pattaya and some of us onto Bangkok aswell, But by the time you come though most of us will be back in Patong and others will be gone home.. So you will just miss out, But if you decide to come down to Patong, Drop into Mai Thai Bar (MTB) on Soi Eric, You will find a few of us there and Nicke who runs this forum and the bar

Hi Irish_legend, welcome to the board. When I am in BKK I always go to the Nana Hotel. It's about € 23,-/room and you can make reservations by e-mail: nanabkk@nanahotel.co.th
The webside: http://www.nanahotel.co.th/html/index.html
You never have any problems bringing a girl(s) to your room. Nana Plaza Entertainment Complex is just across the street. Beer garden and Lolitas is very near. Famous Angels disco is underneath the Hotel. The room are not brand new, but I think sleeping in a luxury hotel is not number one on your priority list. I always found the rooms value for money( keeping in mind that you are in the middle of the action). I don't know the hotel Ally has recommended, it might be fine as well.
For phuket hotel info check out: http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...esthouses.html
I would not book the hotels through an agent, but directly with the hotel.
Cheers,
Raval
