The place is closed scam
Last month i was in BKK I decided to go shopping at the Siam paragon I arrived at 9.55 (wanted to shop then have breakfast) now the mall opens at 10.00 so while waiting i got the classic (the mall closed today Bhudda holiday come with me and i will take to a place thats cheaper) so i asked will i be able to buy cheap gems to sell at home. The guy looked like he was going to have an orgasm as he replies yes make lots of dollars at home. I then asked him if he could take me to a place where you get those lamps you rub and a genie pops out he looked at me and said theres no such thing to which i replied theres no such thing as a bhudda holiday, you started it. He snorted and went of in his TUKTUK did i say something wrong

the concierge at the Westin send me to one of these places and it was way out of the way, so i was stuck out there, trying to find a way back
i ripped him a new ass beyond belief
had the general manager in my room 5 minutes after i got upstairs
i was completely pissed off a 5 star hotel would send me to a rip off place

yes, in thailand, the money for a tuk tuk or taxi is so small that even though the guy is a dirtbag, better off paying off the fare and not getting into any kind of fight

yep ............spot on paulie.
i have actually been offered some good deals from tuk tuk drivers in bangkok.......but never took them up,might benefit others, going around gem shops, tailors etc whilst the driver collects his tokens, but seems like a long ass way just to get where your going, but if u can stick to your price and say no to the shops ,i feel it may be an alright way to see a bit more of the city.
but in all fairness, whats afew extra baht.

I once had took a taxi from the Tower Inn in Bkk to Wat Pho. First the driver stopped at gemstore 1, after that at gemstore 2. I told him from now to drive directly to Wat Pho. when he stopped at gemstore 3. I told him I would go off the cab and he would get no money... No problem he replied and he left me alone in the middle of nowhere.

Just take a cab with a meter in it......cheap as chips.....don't let the driver get away with a fixed fee.....it is always cheaper on the meter.......unless of course you are going outside pf BKK...........
Metered taxis are way cheaper than tuk-tuks but sometimes in heavy traffic you are better off in one as they can weave in + out.......
or if you are game for it get a double on a motor bike taxi.....best way around for me!!!

Everytime I took a cab now I'll open the door & ask if they go the place before I sit in. If they give me a fixed price I will SLAM their door.
Luckily I look like Thai unless I was taking a cab from shopping mall or hotel & they will think I'm Hongkee or Japaness.
