If you are in Bangkok over a weekend you may want to try Chatuchak Weekend Market. It is an outdoor market north of Bangkok. You will need to the the MRT from Sukhumvit station. Sukhumvit station is either one station east on BTS or 10+ minutes walk from Nana. The ride on MRT is about 15 minutes to Chatuchak Park and you are right there. Get there early (9-9:30)on a Saturday or Sunday morning
Search Google ("Chatuchak Weekend Market") for more information.

What kind of shopping? Nana carpark is usually pretty good ;-)

If it's for clothes etc then go to MBK department store

I think that there are two Robinsons just down the road from Nana, an easy walk. One on the same side which has the internet place upstairs, and one on the opposite side on the corner of Soi19 under the Sukhumvit Grande hotel.

Computer/techno stuff from Panthip Plaza, a 10min taxi ride. Clothes shopping on the stret stalls around Nana. You have as good a spot as any I think.

Agreed, Nana is a perfect spot to be based.

Chatuchak will have anything you want (15 mins on the Skytrain), Panthip is close by, street stalls are all along Sukhumvit Road, you can look at the Department store in Emperial only a few blocks away.

Either way, Sukhumvit is the farang shopping centre of the city, so you'll be fine.

Yes it rather depends on what you're shopping for. My suggestion would be to get taxi up to Panthip Plaza in the morning, after finishing there walk back down (towards Nana) a little and cross the road you'll find a ton of clothes shops/markets. After there keep walking a little more you will reach Pratunam (complex) for yet more clothes (some great stuff actually you won't find sold in most markets). Note where it is then turn left down the road just before it to get to Pratunam market.

Back the way you came to the Pratunam building then cross the road there are a couple of shopping centers and Big C. If that hasn't taken up all your time get a taxi to MBK then look around there before crossing over to Siam center.

Nighttime you can look around the stalls all around nana/sukhumvit road area.

Day 2 I'd either try to make the Weekend Market (if possible) or failing that hit up the MBK area (you'll probably have ran out of time on Day 1). Evening take a trip down to Suan Lum Night Bazaar, if not just for the shopping it's a nice night out. It's best to do the markets last I think as they're both tourist traps for those not aware on the values/prices. Lots of sunburned falang chicks there buying crap and happy because they haggled and "saved" 20 baht.

Last but not least back to Nana for what hully suggested as the best kind of shopping

I always shop at the Central Department store (Chit Lom station on the BTS I think). A nice big store with a great restaurant on the top floor. Good for jeans, shirts etc. The MBK is well worth a visit as well. Robinson's is on a par with Central if you like department stores. I have never found electronics (eg MP3 players) that cheap in BKK to be honest. Same prices as London. Panthip Plaza is good for computer stuff.
Finally if you are into golf then there is a golfing shop centre in Silom, not far from Patpong. Some quite good prices.

Depends what you are after.

Siam Square has alot of shops all very close together (It has the cheap markets and the exspensive shopping malls like Siam Paragon which is very nice. If you like fast cars go have a look as they have ferraris in there and others).

For electronic type stuff go to Fortune town (taxi drivers know it, is next door to the fortune hotel). It has floors and floors of electronic's.

Try MBK (national stadium BTS) and also if you're in bkk over a sunday go to Ja Tu Jat (sunday market) My spelling could be way off though but sounds like the way i've spelt it. But be warned, the sunday market is boiling hot... I can't stand to be there for more than an hour but its great for shoppin.

Yeah, the JatuJak (or Chat-u-chak as it also spelt) weekend markets are a T-Shirt bonanza. I think you'll also find Billabong, Quiksilver, Diesel etc. along the streets at night on Sukhumvit Road. I found the markets to be a bit cheaper though (becuase it takes a 20 min BTS ride to get there).

Not too sure about jewellery, I've only ever bought jewellery from inside the Emporium Shopping Centre.
