Soi Cowboy v Nana Plaza

Right, I did a bit of research, I trawled a few threads but I couldn't find any conclusive answer to my question(s)....

I have been to Bangkok a 2-3 times times and I could say I know the Soi 4 / Nana Plaza area quite well.
Now I read a bit about Soi Cowboy and am quite curious / intrigued now as I've never been there.

My question is......
Is Nana Plaza any different from Soi Cowboy?
If so.... how?
Is one more upmarket / sleazier / more touristy than the other ??
Same quality of BGs??
Or are they pretty much the same (just different location)..??

Many thanks in advance

Cowboy.. Cheaper (a little) also more nudity usually..

Cowboy is one long pedestrian type soi unlike NEP in one enclosed one area..

Girls.. Pretty much a draw.. Always found cuties in both places though the rainbow group does have a LOT of stunners working normally. Some people have said that cowboy is more low rent.. I personally dont see it but maybe I am a low rent kinda guy

I like hanging around outside of nana in daytimes and after bars close.. I like cowboy more for a night out..

Tally, you really need to try Soi Cowboy next time! WOO HOO!

300 metre long soi, with about 35-40 bars in total, all at street level.

Some nice venues - Long Gun, Rawhide, Suzie Wongs. Very hot girls, shows are a bit more revealing (though not to the Patpong/Pattaya level I imagine) and drink prices were reasonable. Happy hour prices up to about 8.30pm (though not many punters before 8pm).

LT for a bendy go-go dancer from Dollhouse earlier this year was 1500 THB, plus bar fine of 600 THB if I recall right.

NEP is dirty

like LIL, i'd rather hang out around that area in the afternoon, or late night car park, but i dont really care for actually going into the prison block area

Exactly the same Marc.. The actual NEP part of nana just doesnt do much for me.. But I do like monring till night bar and a few just round the place.. Also stay at Majestics, lollies and beergarden all close..

I always throught there was more showing in Cowboy then nana then Patpong.. But then I have never been into the upstairs bars on Patpong (heard rip off tales) and in general rate it down the list of 3.. What I do like about PP is lucifers disco as the gogo's shut..

A kings gogo?
You mean the Kings Group of bars. Several gogo bars, like Camelot, Kings 1, Kings 2, Kings corner etc and many other venues owned and controlled by this group.

LiL, try next time 'Funky Dojo' in the little soi between PP1 and PP2 on the Silom side. Very little club/bar with good house music and often an interesting crowd. At present better than Lucifer IMHO.....

Kings Castle maybe...?

Kings cousins, sounds not correct to me. Might have toi say that I spend a considerable time on 'the Pong' and never heard of the name. What is the location?

Further agree that I prefer SC over Nana. Especially many years back when it was the backwater of naughty nightlife in Bangkok. Now a bit more commercial but still the preferred venue. I might even rate Patpong higher than Nana. Patpong you need to know maybe a bit better before you fully enjoy it...

if you were stand with your back to lucifers at that little street that connects the 2 roads, its to the left of the little street, maybe 1st or 2nd gogo
when you walk in, has big stage right in front you and stairs that lead to seats to the right, if that makes sense
also has LB's that dance there

Yep, sounds definately like Kings Castle 1 or 2. From the corner of the little soi you have first Superstar, then Camelot, Kings Castle 1 and than Kings Castle 2 until the next little soi with on the opposite of this little soi Kings Corner.....

Cousin..... maybe Kings Corner?
Here a map to help in the search of the correct name. Map is a bit old but most gogo's still have the same names.

One drunken night I was taken to a kinda small upstairs disco.. Small and hot but playing good choons and the crowd were getting into it.. If my drunken memory serves it was opposite the music cafe and upstairs (a lot but maybe that was the drink).. Seemed more of a music place than a pickup place (of course lots of FL's but it was a clubby vibe not a P4P vibe) so remember it being odd smack right there in PP..

Is that still operating ?? and / or what is / was it called..

Sound like above King Corner, was previously called Kings Lounge. Changed over the years in name and in attitude. Was mostly a disco/club kind of place. Had good and bad years..., was great 10 years ago. Elsewhere upstairs are mainly 'show' bars..., would not call any of them anything close to a 'music' place.

this was at least 4 or 5 years back.. If music cafe straddles both PP 1 and 2 then it would have been opposite Music Cafe also in that street running between them..

I realized after writing it that opposite music cafe could have been in PP 1 or 2 or that through connecting street.. Hard to remember but may have been like 3rd level up from street.. Seem to remember a really long set of stairs in red or orange or pink.. Remember thinking wouldnt want to fall down these !!!

Anyway long time ago just remember having a fun night in there not on the pull with wifey..

For me Soi Cowboy has 2 advantages

1. I, Personally, feel that soi cowboy is more relaxed and spacious.

2. Soi Cowboy has the dollhouse...

Well, as you'd know already, Nana Plaza is 3 vertical floors of various activities, IMHO it is looking tired and the constant farang-foot-traffic has aged the building considerably. It is a cool place to go and have a few beers with mates as all the clubs do not follow the standard go-go layout . i.e. a stage in the middle and seating in 2-3 tiers around the walls of the bar. Quite a few Nana Plaza bars have corners/tables you can sit in and chat with mates, and for this reason it is also good to pick up a girl and get to know her a bit, have a nice chat.

Cowboy is all on street level and is 250-300 metres long with literally one club next to another all the way along. Most of the clubs are your typical go-go club layout, with anywhere from 10-70 girls working in any bar. The shows and dancing are a bit more revaelaing than those at Nana Plaza, and it is not uncommon to see a stage full of nude girls doing the Bangkok shuffle in Soi Cowboy bars. I find the girls to be a bit less pushy in Soi Cowboy and the vibe to be a bit more laid back, probably because it is just spread over more space (instead of being clubs stacked on top of one another)

For the sake of a 5 minute ride on the BTS, just check them both out and you can make your own judgement.

I agree with you slinggalin, Cowboy is the greatest. The laid back vibe is what makes it so great.

I leave in 9 days and I'll be up and down Soi Cowboy for 11 nights, can't wait!!
