I have dined may times at A Hereford Beefstouw and agree that the food is quite good. I do not, however, not like their "fill in the a number on a ticket with a pencil" approach. I think is cheapens the dining experience and makes it very impersonal.
If you are traveling from/through Copenhagen airport and have an hour to spare you should try A Hereford Beefstouw as it may be the best airport food you will ever have (pencil, ticket or otherwise)

There's a great little steakhouse on Soi Nana, just five minutes walk from NEP, on the same side of the street. Sorry, don't remember the name but it's easy enough to find. It's got an unusual red brick exterior and it's quite dark and mellow inside. Cool and trendy. Top class steak and good wine, not too expensive either.

That is 'Steak One'. Indeed a decent meal for a decent price. Quality was a lot better though under previous ownership. Good option if alone for a steak at the open air bar counter just off the street.
We drunk all the real good bottles of wine and they have never been replaced.... Still a decent pouring wine.

I can only agree that New York Steak House has excellent steaks. MY GF worked there for almost 2 years as a waitress/bartender so we got 50 % discount... still the bill came up 9000 baht... But it was worth it for sure!!!
Now she works at Vino,an Italian restaurant close to Ekamai which i also can highly recommend... Best Italian food i have tried so far in BKK

Thanks for this one Petter, menu looks very good - and looks like it's a reasonable place to stay as well.
Wish I'd read this thread before my last trip!!

Best steak in New York is peter lugers or Sparks.

To the original poster why not just stay at the jw marriott that way you won't have to look far for a great steak.

so i was happy

@ approx £150 uk pounds i think the price of your meal at the JW is a tad expensive it sounds more expensive than some very nice restaurant in central London.

Conversly it is the JW Marriot so u are paying for the whole experience etc , if your on holiday and want to enjoy yourself and dont really care about the cost theres nothing wrong with this .

Myself though when im in thailand i eat thai food i can eat farang food anytime and anyplace in London , when in thailand do as the thais do (opposed to the when in rome ) .

Tenderloins Soi 33

Was in Bangers last week and went to Tenderloins on Soi 33 for a beer and a steak. It was my first time in there and found the service was good, atmosphere friendly, and the steak was tops. Ordered and Aussie imported rump with pepper sauce, fries and salad. Top notch for AUD $20 including a beer. Would go back anytime.

I tend to agree with you... I like a good steak myself.... Not often tho but one every few months for me is fine and the whole experience of dining out aswell...Dressed nicely etc... Even if i am on my own....

Heard good things about the New York Steakhouse... but i think the price (for me) is off putting...(NOT a cheap charlie here but after rent etc etc i dont have a great deal to spend on that sort of stuff). But to be honest anyway when i am in Asia i usually dont eat that much anyway more snacks..... The heat for some reason kills my appetite but if i was not on a budget and in the mood then yes i would deffinatly eat here,

I think for a good steak quality means everthing and you can probably get a decent steak in Nana Hotel there is no way you could compare that to something like what Marc26 has reccomended.

im at steakhouses 4-5 times a month due to work
and my belly shows it

now, after my last trip to Nyc, my good friend and I stopped in a steakhouse we frequent often
but it was just the 2 of us-when usually its 4-8people for business with bottles of wine and so on, so that you cant get a sense what a couple would have to pay

with the just the two of us-we ordered 2 steaks, a seafood tower for 2, side of creamed spinach and 2 heniekens and the bill came to 117usd

now looking back at my 10,000baht bill at NY Steakhouse, i would deem it extremelyexpensive-maybe because of importing meats?

Yes, I used to say that the New York Steak House was called that because it charged New York prices, but I think you're quite right. The truth is that it charges MORE than New York prices, and not by a little. Why do they do that? Because they can. They're full almost every night regardless, so can you blame them?
