There are a few Sizzling Steaks but I'd say it would be worth the trip to Siam Square and Hard Rock Cafe. HARDROCK_CAFE

New York Strip Steak is good but expensive, think around 1500-1800 baht or so..

Since a steakhouse is a western thing, those that do exist is pretty expensive compared to Thai restaurants.

Also a Outback Steakhouse in Siam Discovery Center but I've been just once and won't go again

Most of the time I stick to Thai food but I do pop in at Hard Rock every time I'm in Bkk.

On Siam square there is a "Kobe steack house". Won't be Kobe beef at that price but a very good steack tepanyaki coocked.

i was really pleasantly suprised
i figured it would be nice but didnt expect it to be on par with a real nyc steakhouse

as far as my tg loving it, she did, but was in shock at the 11,000baht bill
she took the bill home to show her mom

I paid about 1650 Baht for 2 steacks with extras (vegies, garlic on the hot plate, japanese mushrooms, asparagus...) and something like 6 Jap beers.

You can get a decent steak at the Nana Hotel restaurant for around 300-500 baht. Why pay 1,500 for a meal you're just gonna crap out tomorrow (if you're lucky).

Unless you are on a date, but your post didn't say.

Agreed, so do I, but I save those times for being on a date or something similar and trying to impress. You won't be finding me hopping into a suit and walking over to the New York Steakhouse to eat alone.

Marc, what does "best steakhouse" mean? Best quality, best ambiance, best write-up in the Post, best location? I chose it to mean best location (to NEP) and best value (price/quality). I've never had any probs with the food there. Somedays, I gorge on the "free" breakfast buffet (if you stay there then daily brekky is included in the hotel rate) and don't eat the rest of the day. Quite nice on the budget, but I don't consider myself a CC. I just wouldn't spend 4,000+ baht on a meal for two, unless I had other intentions....Impress a girl, customer, business colleague, etc... I've never had to do any of these as a tourist.

The question is just flat out too vague to answer correctly, so everybody throws out an opinion. First, he says "best", then says "good", then indicates that price is an ingrediant in his choice. I gave my vote. It's Nana Hotel restaurant for me. Just one guy's opinion though.

i think when someone's askign for the "best" hes asking for a restaurant with the nicest ambiance and the best quality food
do you think Nana restaurant is really going to have steak thats comparable to JW Marriott's New York Steakhouse?

OK, I give it a bit more attitude. Nana hotel restaurant is great; at 5 in the morning and completely hammered and no other place serving you because you look a bit out of it......
JWM is good for steaks and great for Martini cocktails at the bar of the steakhouse...

Further decent places for steaks do not include The Londoner (Nice place but steakes to be avoided) or Bourbon Streets (eventhough the burger is eadible)....

In quality/ambiance, no. But, I have implied that I would rather have a steak at the Nana Hotel restaurant and a ST across the street for the same price as just a steak at the JWM. That makes it the "best" steakhouse (or at least the best place to get a steak) on Sukhumvit for me. If you take a look at his question, rather than the title of the thread, he only wants a "good" steakhouse anyway.

Don't think the OP was including a ST with the steak,so your opinion isn't really valid is it? Also the thread title was asking about the best steak,so in that respect I'd go with Marc26's recommendation.

For my 2 satangs worth, I'd sooner eat a decent steak in a cheap and cheerful place, than a duff one in a classy joint. But the OP doesn't want to know that either

Thanks for the info guys! Sorry if i was a bit vague, but all the info above is good to know.

I am mostly concerned about the quality of the steak more than anything else, but the the recommendations from other points of view were good. I will probably hit every place mentioned above... including Nana at 5am!

Thanks again.

im not attacking anyone but it seems on this forum if anyone recommends an expensive place there's 20 bm's there to say its a waste of money
i understand alot of people come to thailand to save money but where i come from going out to a nice dinner is something that is valued. around my way, going on holiday means going to some of the "best" restaurants
again, everyone is different, and this is coming from someone who orders out everynight and have no qualms with paying 30-40usd for quality take out
i guess i like my food
also, i understand theres plenty of places you can get an adequate steak for much cheaper, but for me, going to dinner is the whole experience. getting dressed up, enjoying your company, taking time to relax and enjoy your dinner
