Cybie needs advice
I am getting my trip all prepared... I have the dates when i fly out, i have the hotel sorted out in Phuket and on saturday i will have the flight ticket.
I am doing one night in Bangkok and i need a hotel but gasp... Not sure really where to stay.. there are so many good hotels but location has to be ideal.
Obviously staying near the nightlife is essential and also the usual needed for the hotel (Bar a pool not intrested in that) Also the other thing is i want to be able to get to the Lumpini stadium to watch some Muay Thai. I have had a look but the 3 hotels i thought might be good were the Nana hotel, Dynasty inn and the Majestic suites... (if i remember the names correctly)
( I did use the search function and these are the 3 which look the best) Any advice would be appreciated. Just incase i missed something.

Nana is a little funky. Go with Majestic Suites.

I believe that every man passing through Bangkok alone should experience the Nana hotel at least once.

It's only one night, so if it's a little too frayed around the edges for you big deal. But the location is great, with the added bonus of the Angel's disco out back, the Nana car park out front and Nana Plaza across the road, how much better does life get for a single guy?
The other thing I would say on a serious note is that, if you stay in that area, there is no reason to be mooching about around Bangkok in the evening. When I was there in July, the amount of dodgy characters was pretty surprising. Lots of drugged up kids (glue sniffers?) and beggars etc, if you are on your own and drinking then it's really best not to be having to walk too far to your hotel.

Either of the three will work. Same general price, same general area. Nana has no internet access in the hotel, but there is a cafe just a few stores down the soi. Decent pool and restaurant. My vote is for Nana. If not for pure location, then the for sheer entertainment.

Majestic suites all the way, Nana hotel is a shithole.. Would not stay in the place even though its a couple of hundred baht less than Majestic.. Honestly I would not think twice about it.. I would go straight to the Majestic as it has everything plus its clean (Something that cannot be said about Nana) and has in-room safe, Also you still get all the experience of Nana as its just around the corner.. You just walk out the door of the Majestic and walk left, Then just swing a left at the corner and you are there within 30-60secs...

That's just not my experience Ally, I've stayed there half a dozen times now and I find the place fine. It's a bit tired, but calling the place a shithole is unfair. I've always found it to be pretty clean and efficient.

Cybie needs advice
My advice would be the Swiss Grottino.
grottino bangkok homepage
Great rooms. To get that standard on a ordinary hotell you have to go up in the price range.
G friendly,private comfort,quiet,close to everything
And to a price witch are reasonable .

Fine words there steve......No truer quote has ever been written on this forum.
The Nana is a unique mix of sleaze and sophistication, not staying there would deprive you of one of the truly great Bangkok experiences.
Book early to avoid disappointment.
Cheers Barflyrex (I left my heart.........in the Nana hotel)

Well maybe your standards are a lot lower than mine... Because I went in there and had a look at the rooms and they were old, dirty and I could get a really damp musky smell of them... Didnt get a chance to see the pool up close only from a distance... But that didnt matter as after seeing the rooms my mind was made up... So I stand by what I said...

Believe me the Nana has some very nice rooms, last time I couldn’t get one of those 1100 baht dirty, old and smelly rooms (your description not mine) so I had a 1650 baht room down the back in the new section, your should I say "newer section", and I was very impressed…..I’ve never stayed at the Hilton, but I would imagine these rooms would be similar in quality and cleanness.

Just be careful not to trip over Geespot who may be laying on the pavement somewhere....pished.
This place is quite good for the price Cyb http://www.nap-inn.com.....rooms are not hugely spacious, but it's been refurbed, so everything is pretty up to date....l got charged 800bht per nite

See it is just for one night.... And i have heard Nana hotel you are supposed to do just once in your life... And as it is one night i thought about trying it.... Its not a matter of the money because 1. i am hardly going to be there anyway and 2,. there isnt that much difference in the prices to really care... i will think about it for a few days before i decide. i am booking months in advance anyway so i cant see it being that much of a problem. The other 2 hotels look quite nice aswell tho... So i will see... keep the opinions comming tho...

All I can say in defense of the Nana hotel, is how many hotels around the world have between 50 and 200 girls waiting in the car park just hoping they can get in.

I was not aware that we were comparing? And one may be better than the other, but calling the place a shithole is unfair in my opinion. Of course, it may be that I don't achieve yourself and Ally's personal lofty standards, so maybe it's me?

Dunno my one and only experience of the Nana was the same.. Pretty dumpy room, fag burns, musty, small old worn towels, etc.. Then again the one time I stayed at the Dynasty I had the same kind of bad room but am told theres 'new block' and 'old block' rooms at Dynasty.. However the shit they gave me (tried to steal a room deposit) means I wont use dynasty ever again if I have options..
Maybe I just had bad rooms in each.. But between Majestics (which is a small but nicely appointed room) and either of them there really isnt any comparison for me.. Both were unclean and rough compared to a very nice hotel IMHO.
Maybe I was unlucky in both Dynasty (those that know may pre book the right wing) and Nana (dunno) but they are off my list..
Woraburi is not far down soi 4 and is pretty nice rooms..
