Apartment Hotels in BKK
Hi guys, great forum. This may sound like one of those many 'hi can you recommend me a guest-friendly hotel etc' (yes I have been using the search function!!!) but it's not, that kind of info can easily be found by searching around..……….
Basically me and a mate are in BKK for a few days and want to hire a 2 bedroom 'apartment hotel' thing for a few days. Now, we've found a good looking one on Sukhumvit Soi 16, called Somerset Lake Point, for only 3,600 a night.
Home - Somerset Lake Point
It looks really good but I'm just a bit concerned about the subject of bringing different girls back at night and whether they'd try and stop it. Ideally it is your 2bed apartment and you can then do what you like with it.
So, my questions are;
-does anyone know of these specific apartments and what their set up is like in terms of bringing numerous TG visitors?
-are serviced apartments like these just come and go as you please, or do they generally have a fully-manned reception etc etc that can pose probs when bringing guests?
Cheers for any input on this subject………..

Generally speaking, the nicer the hotel, the greater the chance of being blocked. This one looks like a blocker.
If you were to pull from CM2, Spasso's, etc. and the girl was dressed elegantly (and you were too), then no problem. But, try a typical BG or GG dancer from Patpong/Nana/Cowboy, then no chance.

I have found if you book the apartment for 4 people sharing a two bedroom apartment they cannot turn your "guest" away. Obviously the girls will have to leave their ID but that is all.You should not have to pay a joiner fee as your booking is for 4 people. Also as you are paying for the apartment not per person the cost is the same as if you were there on your own or there are 4 sharing. I have not had any problems using this procedure.

Cheers, that's what I was thinking of doing, as you can specify 4 guests for the same price. A 2 bed apt with double rooms, cooking facilities is obviously geared up for more than 2 people, it's just this place does look pretty classy.
Was it these apartments you booked? If not, where have you stayed on this basis and what was the cost please?
And thanks Tanman for your input.

Stayed at President Solitaire on last 4 visits, mixture of BGs,hostesses from Soi 33 and my Thai GF have stayed with no probs. It's expensive,£70 I think during high season but the quality is unquestionable. Funnily enough I have chosen to go to Somerset Lake Point when I arrive on 16 December so lets hope the pictures justify going there. £20 cheaper than Solitaire so not expecting Solitaire standard but got 2 bed deluxe apartment(all they had left) so you never know.

I've found exactly the opposite - the better the hotel the less likely they are to bother their guests.

Serviced apartments are generally very guest friendly.
A quick google search shows that someone has asked the same question on BKKTonight forum - I'm not a member but perhaps someone who is could check the answer?
It's managed by the Ascott group who also do Omni Tower (is GF) and others - I'm looking at staying at Somerset Suwan Park myself.

My experience with the Sofitel Silom was much different. BG was rejected by the bell hop that stands guard at elevators. CM2 FL was let through, but I thought that was because it was 5AM, we were dressed up.
I've heard similar stories about rejections from people that have stayed at the Conrad, Peninsula, the Oriental and some of the others along the river. They don't want clientele that are bringing in working girls, as it may affect their brand image with the other clientele.
Maybe services apartments are more lax though. Maybe it's best to call them before booking.

I was going to say that the Sofitel was the only 5* i've heard as being not GF. Never had problems at the Shang, JW Marriott or Westin.
Tends to be the 3/4* hotels that won't allow or charge a joiner - particularly Holiday Inn & Novotel.

Oriental + Peninsular deffo a problem......not allowed in unless the "guest" registers with you.........and even then you will get a funny look if the "guest" loks like a BG........

Guys, a browse on Bangkok tonight forum and Somerset Lake Point is mentioned a few times as being nice, security conscious (ID cards at reception) but definiteley girl friendly. Mind you, the last post on it was a couple of years ago, but I can't see what could change in that time.

Cheers, I presume if there's any kind of policy it could well be similar across the few of them

The Royal President on Soi 15 has no problem with guests. The security guard takes the girls ID and off you go.

I can confirm Somerset Suwan Park View is GF for multiple guests (thought I better check that )- seems to be your choice if they take ID's or not.

Cheers for letting us know. Although I also feel there could be an interesting story behind that statement ;-)

I stayed at the Somerset Lake Point a few weeks ago. It is very good. the apartments are well appointed, staff are efficient and friendly. The buffet breakfast is fine too. They have a 24 hour manned reception and its GF. Its a huge place with plenty of ammenities. They also have their own tuk-tuk to run you down to Sukhomvit Rd if you don't fancy the 15 minute walk to the Skytrain. Just a few hundred metres down the road is a large supermarket and 24 hour cafe. I think it's called Foodland, very new and not expensive.
If your a Krisflyer member (Singapore Airlines) you can get the room a little cheaper. I booked direct with the hotel via the website.
