Woraburi Suhumvit
Hi guys
Going to Bangkok for the first time in March, can't wait to see in real life what I've only read about so far.
The thing is that I've booked myself in at the Woraburi hotel. Before I made the reservation I found some info on the web saying its guest friendly, since then I've seen posts to the reverse, one guy even claimed they tried to stitch him for 1,000bht?...I need a bit of an assist here. Has anybody stayed there recently? if so, is it guest friendly if you've booked a double room, or if not how much do they charge as a joiner fee?
I'll appreciate any help you can give guys.

Send them a email and ask them if they charge overnight guests... If they answer no, print out the email and bring it with you.. In that case they cant say anything if they try to charge you..
Never stayed there myself, so i cant say anything about the hotel, only that it is a way back on soi4.. A long walk to Sukhumvit if you dont take motobike taxi..
At least you have Nana close...;-)
Dont forget to try Ronnys New York pizza... hehehe
Its on your right side when you go to Woraburi...

Hi Garp01, I'm going to be in BKK on the 26-28th Jan, I tried to book into the Majestic Suites, then Dynasty then Nana Hotel, but all Full.
Option was next to stay at the Woraburi, but after two attempts, got a room at the Dynasty.
It looks a OK hotel, so hope to hear if its alright, so hope it's TG friendly.

Woraburi
There is joiner fee 200 baht if you haven't booked double but by all recent accounts it is now one of those places that will try it on with anyone and for anything they can get. Never heard of them asking for 1000 before but 300 is common...
I have a friend who swears by the Nanatai mansion right nearby, I know they are GF for sure but have never been as I see crap reviews for them everywhere. There are enough <1200 baht hotels between soi 5 and 11 to put it low down on my shortlist and Woraburi off it completely.

In December stayed at woroburi for my last 2 nights....Nice hotel and nice, helpful staff IMO. The actual room was nice enough for the price, very clean etc.
Have to disagree with tarzan that its a long walk to sukhumvit...5 mins if your young and fit like me
Cant say if theres a joiner fee as me and gf checked in together and no probs.

Hahaha
Well.. Its 700m from Woraburi to Sukkhumvit road (meassure on Google Earth...)
I doubt you will look so fresh after walking 700m in 5min, in the Bangkok heat. But i can be wrong...
If you turn right just in front of Woraburi, soi Ulit, and walk 100m, then turn left 75m you have Alta House there. Nice clean and big apartments that you can haggle down to 1100-1200b/night. No charge for guests..
Apartment in Bangkok Thailand Sukhumvit soi 4, Alta House Apartment
Stayed there last summer and it was ok...

Depends on... if it is rushhour, you are not comming so far with the tuktuk..
That leaves it to the motobiketaxi.. And going in 40-50km/h between the cars isnt my idea of fun...Almost crushed my knees against the cars...
But otherwise the tuktuk is a good thing to use. i tried to go back from NEP to the hotel with him after been out shoppng... He wanted 60bath to go back that cheap bastard... Told him no way... Not so smart, considering i just had spent about 15 000b shopping...
So it was a long walk home...hehe

Yeah... those motorbikes are sure scary... I remember one night when i was supposed to meet my gf at Nana (no bg,she worked at Marriot ) and i was late. We stayed in her apartment close to Ari BTS but i was too lazy to walk to the station so i took a bike... Luckily i had watched football on tv and had been drinking some nice singhas...
When my gf saw me she said i looked funny and i just said i have had a motorbikedriver from HELL!!!!! Then she get angry and said that a bikeride from Ari to Nana is dangerous but i didnt care... i was just happy to be alive...

Cheers for the input guys.
I e-mailed the Waraburi several days ago but still haven't got a reply to the question.
As I've already paid for one night I guess I'll try it and see how it goes. I only booked in for a few days to be on the safe side so I can always move elsewhere if they prove to be a pain.

Hey Garp,
My Dad and my brother stayed there last year for a couple of days. My Thai gf used to work in their marketing dept and I would maybe advise staying somewhere else. She left there for her own reasons, (moving down to phuket to be with me) but my family thought very little of the place.
I would recommend staying at the Dynasty or the Grand Business Inn. Either way, you pay for the room and no extras for bringing a girl back. Dynasty is good with reasonable food but I really like the Grand Business Inn. I've stayed there a few times and it's fantastic.
