I agree, sunglasses in Bangkok could definitely work. I also beleive they are effective in other parts of Thailand, and indeed, other countries around the world too.

I am not being sarcastic when I say everywhere. You can't walk by 3 street vendors before one will sell sun glasses.

Along Sukhumvit Road, Soi 4 - Soi 21, there are street markets that sell them all afternoon and night until about 1-2am. Cheap as.

you can't throw a stone in bkk without hitting a guy selling sunglasses! they will eventually drive you insane! seek sanctuary in the nearest bar!

The main problem with sunglasses is that the copies may not have full UVA and Uvb protection - not worth risking glasses without this.

As many have said, cheapo sunglasses - anywhere in BKK. Emporium, MBK, and others for retail, and I think if you spend X amount you might get a VAT refund voucher too. Also, the Starbucks in Emporium is a great place to watch some good looking hiso types stroll while working on the ole laptop. NO plug in though, so better have a great battery.
