first time to explore
This will be my first visit to explore Bangkok i am staying a welcome to NAP-INN
From what i can tell it is near Nana Plaza I would also like to check out Soi Cowboy, how far is it time wise if i walked it and would it be better to get the sky train? Which bars or gogos would you recommend.
Also places to eat i like the places you can sit at a stall and chow down on noodle soup, stir fry or Pad Thai, i do enjoy see food butmight leave that until i nearer the coast.

Hello ThaiLearner, everyone does there own thing and has different experiences wherever they go, on my first trip to Nana, I just sat at Pharaohs bar near the entrance, had a few beers and let the place wash over me for a while before I moved around, I did the same at a bar in Cowboy at the soi 23 end, just sat there and chilled with a few beers before exploring. As marc26 suggests, sit down at any of the numerous stalls and watch the madness, truly outstanding, best of luck fellah.

You can walk it in 15 minutes or you can walk it in a very long time.
Its worth a walk as there is so muuch to see on Sukumvit from bars, massage places, food shops etc and have the odd stroll down the sub soi's there are some good bars in them.
Just ignore all the taxi touts showing you a little leaflet of a massage place and saying happy hour.

I wouldn't bother getting the skytrain from NANA to ASOKE (its only one stop down or south) by the time you walk up the steps to the station, buy the ticket (40 bath, you need 4 10 bath coins), wait for the train etc, you would already be stitting in a bar in cowboy...
As was said its a 15 min saunter. Soi 4 -> soi 22/23.
Anyhow, its ASOKE station if your determined not to walk....

Yeh, but it is a b1tch of a walk on crooked sidewalks, etc. dealing with the riff raff, and you have to go up and down the steps anyway to cross Sukhumvit (safely anyway). I've taken the train only one stop for these reasons. Throw in the heat and stench and pollution, it's not such a bad position to take IMO...

I suppose...
It can be a pain getting across the Sukumvit-Asoke intersection itself... You have to be fast on you're feet no matter what way the lights are IIRC...
Taxi meter cab must be only about 40 to 50 Bt anyway?

When you arrive on the Skytrain to go to soi cowboy, use the subway entrance to cross the Asoke Road. but when you go home, it is normally closed so you hv to cross it foot.

Pending traffic you walk easily to soi cowboy from Nana Hotel within 15 min...
The first bar on the left (western bar )when you enter the soi a draft beer
will cost 59 baht if you there before 9 pm...after that the strip is open for
your inspection
