No 88 was a reference to part of a board name of another "Singapore" resident.

As stated my reference to 88 referenced neither a salute, nor anything else. Looking at Wilipedia I found no such reference. The closest was: in amateur radio for "hugs and kisses". 88 (number) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
