Hey all! I arrive into BKK on Friday, May 18th and my buddy and I are looking to dine at a nice, upscale Thai restaurant. Any suggestions on the best in BKK? Looking for the fine dining experience on the expensive side with a great atmosphere and a great view [if possible].

Try the Vertigo Restaurant located at the top of the Banyan Tree Hotel

Very nice with some of the best views of BKK

Also try the Oriental Hotel

They have a good French Restaurant as well as about 7 others

My favourite Thai restaurant would be Salathip at the Shangri la Hotel. Nice riverside dining, good ambience and some great food.

The thing with Thai food is to eat well, you don't need the upmarket stuff as long as you stay away from sukhumvit. In my book there is hardly a decent thai restaurant along sukhumvit from Soi 1 to about Soi 39.

Another favourite is Lan Na at Face Bar in Sukhumvit Soi 38. Wonderful ambience, not cheap, but well worth the money in my book. they also have an Indian Restaurant that is good.

I second that comment - had a great meal at Lannathai in March.
