Another BKK hotel chain (actually serviced apartments) that is currently offering very good rates is the Centrepoint chain with seven locations in the city. I stayed at Centrepoint Wireless, which isn't the most convenient location in the city, even though it isn't far from the Suk nightlife area. I got a spacious room (42 sq m, if I remember) with a kitchen nook for 2,200 baht a night.

Le Fenix is definitely guest-friendly, but since the rooms aren't that large (although quite spacious), it isn't too suitable for orgy-style parties. Same-same for the Centrepoint.

I finally recieved an email back from Le Fenix 3 weeks ago and they had some outrageous charge for internet and told me some line about no unregistered guest allowed.
So maybe their guest rules change from week to week.

9 more days till I hit Bangkok. Eden Club ticker is down to 8 days 9 hrs. and 30 min.

Update on the Majestic Grande

I stayed there one night recently because my first choice had been fully booked. THe MG is a fine hotel and reasonably priced for the high standard it holds. I got a room for about 3,200 baht, which is slightly less than US$100. Some photos of the room:

And here's the Website: Majestic Grande

I have no complaints about the room, but there are several factors to be aware of before choosing the MG. Guests from one particular area of the world are dominant at the MG. If you're not comfortable with being one of a very small number of farang guests, then it is best to avoid the MG.

In terms of value for money, the MG is the cheapest among the big full service hotels in the lower Suk area. You won't get a room at the JW Marriott, Landmark, Sheraton or Westin for less than US$100. However, better is available for the same price if you extend your range a bit. The Davis on Soi 24 is a better overall hotel and has nicer rooms for the same or even lower price.

Definitely avoid the taxis outside the MG. They are are major scammers. Walk down soi 2 a bit and hail a cab from the street.

In this context it may seem like it and it was not a dig on you. It was related to some previous posts that Evil made.

sorry but have to disagree with you on the honey hotel sukhumvit soi 19

you say its not well located i have stayed there over 20 times the main reasons being the good price the friendliness of the staff and the location

its only a short walk to both nana/plaza and soi cowboy its 2 minutes from robinsons and the asoke skytrain station 5 mins takes you to the undergound station on soi 21

Red face

I posted this in a 3 year old thread and got the feeling that it should have been here. So please forgive the double posting. Admins should feel free to delete the other if they so desire

My two favorites are President Park on Soi 24 (love the area too) and The Mayfair Executive Apartments (by Marriott,) on Lang Suang. The President Park can go for less than USD70 and has a huge rambling pool as well as gym.
They don't even ask for ID from the girls, however, I think it is a good idea to deposit it with he front desk anyway.
There is an extensive list of guest (girl) friendly hotels in Bangkok at <-----this site.

CitiChic - New Hotel With Same Owner As Majestic Suites

The owners of the Majestic Suites have opened a new small hotel in the lower Suk called CitiChic. Here's the Web site: CitiChic Hotel

I don't know anything first-hand about this hotel, only onpassing info. It's apparently an upscale version of the Majestic Suites, as CitiChic has a roof-top swimming pool, a gym, bigger TVs and better overall decor than MS. Like the parent ship, CC is guest friendly to the max.

However, the price is also higher. At CC, the rooms cost 2,500 baht or 2,700 baht a night. That's 450 baht/night more than the best rooms at MS and over 1,000 baht more compared with the simplest rooms at MS (1,315 baht/night).
Since it is much smaller than MS and in a far quieter location, it could be the owners are aiming for mongers who want more comfortable accommodations but don't want to plunge out for a five-star hotel.

Currently staying as Sofitel Residence Asoke on Suk Soi 19; 400 meters up the soi from BTS station.

70 sqm suite with bedroom, 2 bathrooms (main with shower and tub; second bathroom with basin and toilet), living and dining areas, kitchen, and own laundry room with washer. Like new. Roof top swimming pool.

Rather expensive unless you have an Accor Advantage Plus card which gets you member rates of 2635 pre-paid, and 3300 non-restricted.

There is a monthly rate of 85,000 baht inclusive that is available to all.

Internet access is 1000 per week or 3000 per month. Staff install a DSL modem at the bedroom desk.

At check-in the desk girl quoted the standard guest policy line... all overnight guests must register to comply with regulations. But in practice, it is very guest friendly; a salute every night from the door guards, and a smile and a welcome back from the night desk staff. No ID check, no joiner fee.

Roof top swimming pool is about 21 meters in length. I am always the only one using it.

Previously, I have had monthly stays at the President Solitaire. I will always stay here from now on. More modern, much quieter, and just an 8 minute walk from Soi Cowboy.

Accor Advantage Plus

Cost is USD 170 per year. But you get a coupon for 1 night free at any Accor hotel which pretty much covers the cost.

Member rates at Asian and Australian Accor hotels: Sofitel, Mercure, etc.

50% discount at Accor hotel restaurants when dining for 2.

Do not have to be a resident of Asia or Australia.

Another new boutique hotel. It's the redone Vega residence:

The Key

On the basis of the pics, facilities (full kitchen in room, roof-top pool) location (Soi 19 beside Robinson) and price (3,000 baht/night for a 68 square-meter suite is very good value for money), I booked it for early December before promotional pricing ends.

I have no idea whether it is guest friendly. Considering the location, it's likely to be, but I'm not sure. It's pointless to email as almost every BKK hotel will in the current climate answer in writing there is charge for overnight guests, even if in practice they never enforce it.

I still have plenty of time to cancel if it is confirmed guest-unfriendly. As soon as I find out from local sources, I'll update as to whether it is definitely guest friendly.

Citichic

Stayed here twice recently when passing through BKK, both times in a deluxe terrace room.
First occaision hotel had only been open a week and I was told I was the first person to stay in that room.

As there aren't many (any!) reviews around I've included as much as I can remember.

Location:
A few minutes walk down Soi 13, exactly where the road loops round to Soi 11. There's a 7-11 very near, at the end of Soi 11 and plenty of taxis passing.

Room:
Reasonable sized room, stylishly decorated with built-in wardrobe which contains a digital safe big enough for a
14" laptop (15" probably fit but doubt a 17" or bigger would). Amenities include kettle/tea/coffee (free), minibar with ok prices (think it was 80baht for a can of beer). There is a 37" flat screen TV with cable, etc which faces the bed, a work desk/chair and an upholstered chair and footstool. Oh, and a big, comfy bed.
Lights are all touch controlled and there is a master console with clock beside the bed to control lights and A/C.
There is a screen in the room which slides back to reveal a large window into the bathroom - could be fun if your girl is 'shy' and wants to shower alone

Outside, through large sliding doors is a small terrace with wooden table and 2 chairs, nicely planted around - great for not having to smoke in the room and fairly quiet - fierce biting insects though (rooms 102 & 104 seem to have slightly larger terraces)

Bathroom:
Good size with largish bath with shower wand and seperate shower area with wand and rain shower. Usual amenities are included plus a hair dryer.

Facilities:

Ground floor:
Open plan combined check-in and restaurant area with reasonably priced (but not cheap) mixture of Thai/Western dishes, sandwiches, etc - good service and comfortable. Copies of that days local (English) papers available.
Breakfast is table service American breakfast (for 2), included in the rates and was perfectly good the one time I made it up in time, finishes at 10 or 10:30.

6th floor:
Take the lift to the 5th floor then up 1 set of stairs, there is the gym and swimming pool.
Gym comprises one each of multi-gym, bike, rowing, running and cross trainer machines and some free weights - all looked to me to be new and good quality though I didn't try any of them out.
Up some steps and out on to the roof where there is a small swimming pool, a couple of table/chair sets and around 6 sun loungers - a pleasant, stylish area. Pool was great for a cool down/splash around but you won't be doing laps in it.

Internet:
Wireless and wired in room plus two free terminals in the lobby. Never managed to get the wifi to connect but they lent me a network cable which sorted me out.

GF: Yes, at least up to 4 girls (think they were a bit shocked though). Leaving ID at reception appears to be optional.

Cost: 2500 baht for deluxe terrace, a couple of hundred less for a deluxe.

Summary:
Good, quiet (apart from me!) place to stay and will probably stay again if passing through for a few nights, for longer stays I prefer a larger serviced apartment.
All staff were very friendly and keen. There were a few teething problems, wifi wouldn't connect and a couple of issues with room keys resetting but I'm sure these will be sorted out.
