After just getting back from Bangkok where I stayed at the KEY. I am looking to book my next holiday. I would stay at the Key again but I would really like a room where I can watch Start Sports for the english football. I know what you doing in bangkok and wanting to watch football but I really like my football. I know a lot of bars show the football but some of the games are after 2am and not shown. So do any of you know a good hotel that is fairly cheap that has the star sports channels.

Thanks Mark.,

Enjoy

If it was two years ago, the hotel policy could easily have changed now.
Best to email them and get it in writing to save any nasty surprises.

Have stayed at the Amari in Soi5 many times over about a 10 year period. Always book a delux room for 2 people which is very comfy, as actually need to do some work on my laptop from time to time. Never had a problem with a guest, the security gaurd just checks that you have a room booking for 2. Some times they ask to see the girls ID, but that is not very often. Brekky has been getting better over the years but still wouldn't call it fantastic but good enough to soak up the booz from the night before.

Wow nice avatar, thank you for spreading the christmas cheer.

Where do you find all those pics anyways?

Anyways I usually book a room for two and send an email confirming there wont be any surprises. And picking hotels recommended on here helps too.
I had one run in with a hotel in Kamala a bit ago that decided they would charge for guest even after an email, manager was an idiot. It got messy, I won though.

For this reason, I keep a photo copy of their e-mail approval when I travel.

You can never tell who'll be on duty when you arrive.

Grand Inn Hotel

I've done a search on this forum and cannot seem to find any info on the 'Grand Inn Hotel'. Does anyone know about it? The address is 2/7-8 Sukhumvit Soi 3 (Nana Nua), Sukhumvit Bangkok, 10110.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mate. Yeah, it's a bit old. Apparently it has been renovated recently.

I'm wondering how close is it to Nana Plaza? And would this be an issue if I stay there with my missus.

Even if you have paid for a double room for two?

They don't seem to be worried if your guest is a working girl.

What was their excuse?

CitiChic Hotel

Here's the Web site for the CitiChic Hotel for more detailed info, prices and reservations. For comparison, here's the Web site for the Majestic Suites. I paid 2,500 baht a night at CitiChic for a Double Deluxe room with a small terrace. The same-sized room without terrace is 2,300 baht/night. The CitiChic only has those two types of rooms and the price includes breakfast for two. The MS has four types of rooms, ranging in price from 1,315 baht to 2,050 baht/night. The difference has to do with the size of the room, whether it has a bath tub and whether you get one or two breakfast coupons.

It is just about across the street from Nana Plaza. I don't have any personal experience with this hotel, but I did indeed hear that it had been renovated recently (and with good reason - not much had been done in terms of upkeep in the preceding 20 years). Here's the Web site Grand Inn Hotel. Make of it what you will. It is located on Soi 3, Bangkok's "Arab Street." However, the Grand Inn is very close to the corner of Suk Road, so you aren't really in hostile territory.

I'm not sure how to interpret the second question. Are you asking: 1) Would your wife suffer any inconvenience or embarassment by staying in a hotel so close to NEP; or 2) Would it be easy for you to sneak out to NEP? The answer to 1) is "no" and to 2), "yes."

Short answer: The Grand Inn Hotel is OK (according to BKK sources), but unless you are determined to get a hotel as close as possible to NEP, there are better options in that price range.

Thanks Evil. That helps a lot.

As far as the 2nd question goes... option 1 is what I meant. Option 2 has only put ideas in my head... 555555...

My two favorites are President Park on Soi 24 (love the area too) and The Mayfair Executive Apartments (by Marriott,) on Lang Suang. The President Park can go for less than USD70 and has a huge rambling pool as well as gym.
They don't even ask for ID from the girls, however, I think it is a good idea to deposit it with he front desk anyway.
There is an extensive list of guest (girl) friendly hotels in Bangkok at <-----this site.

That url leads nowhere. It looks like the page has moved Bangkok guest friendly hotels

Also, the Town Lodge is super guest friendly (the staff has a positive attitude towards guests' guests, not just tolerates them) and has a nice bar connected to the lobby (Toxic, it's called). They know me well.

Thanks for the tip. I booked the TL for my august visit. Though, I just noticed the room with bath is only with bath - guess I'll have to make my own little soapie parlor. What kind of soap do the MG use?
