When i was looking for flights the cheapest I usually saw were with the mid east carriers. Obviously there is a stop over but usually only a few hours so not so bad.

When looking for flights anywhere, well that I have to pay for, I usually use expedia.co.uk. At least you get a comparison on flights. One of the best sites I have found to browse.

booked some flights with expedia.co.uk last week and noticed a sneaky 'admin fee' charged to my credit card the next day - £5 for a shorthaul and £10 for a longhaul flight.

Not a lot, really but i was quite miffed as it seemed a bit underhanded - had to check t&c to find where the smallprint was.

First time i've used them so don't know how long they've been at this. Don't remember experiencing anything similar on previous years but might be cause i booked directly thru the carriers.

I have only flown direct with Thai Air which was not too bad considering the price you pay though that was from Australia. You just have to hunt around. I have been looking for weeks now and found a flight for only £474 inc tax flying with KLM. Leaving Heathrow then to Amsterdam for a 2 hour stop then onto Bangkok in September. There are plenty out there you just have to find them.

You know its money well spent anyway, good luck with the flights!!

Just flown over with Etihad from Manchester £429 return. Mind you, I was booking less than 24 hours before I flew so I don't know if that makes a difference. Less than 2 hours layover, but as Abu Dhabi International is tiny, short stops shouldn't be a problem.

Another good thing as those flying from Manchester will know, you avoid that bloody awful Terminal 2 with Etihad.
