Kanchanaburi hotels bridge on the river kwai

Hi all,

any info please on where to stay for a few days in Kanchanaburi, my father was an aussie WWII vet and I’d like to see the museums, hellfire pass, etc.
Before you ask he was in PNG and Bouganville not Thailand.

I’ve done a search on here but it all seems to be day trips from BKK.
Budget for hotel 1500 to 2000 baht per night.

thanks

Shway

Hi, I got a nice bungalow on the Kwai river for 280 bath per night when I was there last March ! The name of the guesthouse was Sugar Cane if I remember well. You could also get rooms on the water. nice and charming staff as well !

The Felix is a top quality resort hotel right next to the bridge. it's on the far side so it's a mild pain to get to by road, but the upside is that you get to walk across the bridge every time you wander into town.
Not sure how much we paid last time, possibly outside of the budget you mentioned, but still well worth considering. The rooms are in detached 3 storey blocks dotted around the tropical gardens. Get a room with river-view balcony, a couple of cold ones and a camera ......

felix

Thanks for the replies ultras and excile,
It's funny you mention the felix because I emailed their reservations over a week ago with no reply.
That's why I'm here.
I found a website offering THB 1600/ Superior Garden View but I prefer to deal with the hotel direct. Not a wholesaler for all sorts of reasons.

Thanks.
