Office job in BKK, advices ?

Hi all,

I came back at the end of April from a 3 months trip to Thailand, I have been visiting heaps of places everywhere around the country ; it was not my first trip to LOS but certainly the most interesting one as I was on my own, backpacking and meeting loads of Thai people and had a good insight of the culture.

Now back at home I have been seriously thinking of moving to work in Thailand for at least a couple of years I wanna give it a go !
I have been looking on a couple of websites about jobs in BKK but found nothing really interesting or helpful.
Just to let you know a little bit about my background, I used to work for a huge multinational here in Switzerland (Purchasing department) and speak 3 languages.

Do you guys think it is feasible to find an office job in BKK and if so have you got any advices to give to me (websites, etc…) ?… would be great.

Looking forward to hear from you !

Cheers !

Ideally get relocated with your current company or move to one which has offices in BKK. You want to try to keep your salary and that means working for a company based outside Thailand, then you can go for the ex-pat package.

General office worker.. In BKK with a degree.. Maybe 15k 20k etc..

Why employ a non Thai speaking farang for a generic job with a min wage of 55 - 60k plus all taxes ??

For specific skill sets that cant be obtained in thelocal market its possible.. But 'office worker' doesnt seem very specialized.

I'd say your chances are pretty slim to none. At least if you are not semi-fluent in Thai.

A friend of mine (with decent Thai and 20+ years working as a programmer) was offered a job in BKK as a project manager for a farang owned software company. Stating salary: 45K a month. He turned them down.

Mate,

I tried also in Thailand this stuff.
But life did show me an other way!
And I must admit: A better one!

So: LL stays for me as a touristdestination.
And I am not married with a THAIgirl.

Not till now ;-)

There are thousands of expat jobs in thailand, but many positions are restricted for Thai's only. You need to be a specialist to get through the WP process.

As for salaries 45K is ridiculous, as I said before I have Thai's in reasonably mid level positions earning far more than that.

Expat salary is the only way to go if you are going to have a reasonable life in Bangkok. For that I mean 300,000 B a month upwards.

I go through the same thought process everytime I go to Thailand, sitting in a bar surrounded by attractive woman, having fun. and you think how you could make a living out here. But next morning I'm sober again.

It's worth a try though, but you won't get paid much.

There is one expat that I know of he runs a warehouse down in Rayong and he gets paid pretty well for American standards, and he'll be the first to admit that he got very lucky.

You have a better chance of running a business out here.
