A comprehensive guide to Bangkok eateries would require book-length treatment, so this is simply a rather eclectic list of suggestions, although it does cover every type of restaurant from street stalls through world-class luxury restaurants.
Within the pages of the first link, to the Bangkok Post's restaurant guide, there are suggestions for dozens and dozens of restaurants. Downside is it is all alphabetical rather than by neighborhood or cuisine. That means you have to read
every review or you miss just the restaurant that interests you.

A few restaurants to add to the list:
Oam Thong Thai Cuisine Restaurant :
Address: 7/4-5 Sukhumvit Soi 33,
Oam Thong Website
It's located between the Novotel Hotel and Livingstone's.Reasonably priced classical Thai cuisine in a nice milieu.
Naj
42 Convent Rd.(Opposite BNH Hospital),
Silom,Bangkok

Expensive, definitely an upscale milieu. You don't go there in the farang sex tourist uniform of shorts, flip-flops and a sweaty T-shirt. Mostly Thai cuisine, but much more trendy (and costly) than Oam Thong. Some TGs will love it, others will feel out of place.
Meat-lovers might want to try
Livingstone's Steakhouse. It's in the Livingstone complex on Soi 33, it's about 100 meters from the corner of Sukhumvit Road, on the left side. A pair of huge elephant tusks mark the entrance. There's also a Thai restaurant and sports bar in the complex. Not the cheapest, but very reasonable for what you get in a pleasant environment. TGs love the food - one ate her own plate of food, then half of mine. The sports bar has 20or so hostesses who are happy to keep you company.
For northern Indian food in an upscale milieu, try the
Rang Mahal atop floor the Rembrandt Hotel on Soi 18. Classical Indian music accompanies the meal. Here's the
Web site of the Rang Mahal.
If the company is paying or you've hit a winning lottery number, there's
Sirocco. Located on the 63rd floor of The Dome at State Tower,
Sirocco is the world’s highest al fresco (open air) restaurant. It also has an incredible bar. The address is 1055 Silom Road.
There are a bunch of other restuarants and bars located in the same skyscaper, one of the tallest in Bangkok that offer spectacular views while you eat. You can read about them
here.
Several restaurants are woth mentioning in the Camp Davis area (in the retail plaza between the corner and main wings of the Davis Hotel) on Sukhumvit Soi 24.
Sukhothai in Camp Davis, 88/5 Sukhumvit Soi 24, is reasonable priced but has great food in a very authentic - but upscale - milieu. Several Thai families were eating there; the customer base seemed evenly split among Thai families and farangs with TGFs.
For either dessert or a pre-drinking binge drink, try
Amaltery, also at the Camp Davis plaza (location: 88/6 Camp Davis, Sukhumvit 24). It's an ice-parlor or a bar, depending how you look at it. Either enjoy ice cream by itself or as part of a delicious, heavily spiked cocktail. The buuterfat and milk in these drinks helps to coat the stomach ahead of more basic boozing in bars where the sweets are of the two-legged variety.
Open: 12:00 - 23:00 (Closed on Sundays)
