Siam Niramit is a cultural and entertainment complex in Bangkok. Here's the link to the Website,(
Siam Niramit), so I won't describe it in detail. The high point is a spectacular 80-minute stageshow at 8.00 p.m. every night that features 150 performers, including two elephants, several goats and some chickens. The show is based on Thai history and culture presented in a popular and entertaining manner. The standard of the production is very high, equivalent to anything you'll see in London or New York. Performers fly very convincingly at dizzying heights and a river, with real water, runs on stage. There'are some very effective pyrotechnic effects as well. Im short, you won't be bored. There's nothing dry or dull about the show.
Outside the theater there is an open-air plaza that feature all sorts of brief performances before and after the main show. You can see everything from demonstrations of Thai martial arts to classic Thai dancing and music. You'll have plenty of photo opportunities outside - photography during the inside show isn't allowed.
Beyond the theater and plaza, there's a recreation of a Thai village that features traditional houses, crafts, food preparation, etc. You can even get a traditional massage from experts trained at Wat Po. The plaza and village open at 6 p.m. and close roughly an hour after the main performance ends.
The TGs I taken there have loved it. One got very sentimental and said the village reminded her of her home. So if you're tired of spending all your time in bars, you might want to try something that's entertaining in a different manner. It also functions well if you have family or friends you need to entertain in a non-P4P environment.
Some tips - the tickets arem't cheap (1,500 baht a head) if you walk up or order by phone, The price drops to 1,000 baht if you buy the tickets through a tour or travel agent. I don't know why, another example of peculiar pricing policies. Also, taxi drivers don't know where it is, so make sure you have the address in Thai. If you travel by MRT, it's the Thailand Cultural Centre Station, Exit 1. There's a free shuttle bus service from the station every 15 minutes from 6:00 pm. - 8:00 pm
