First time in Bangkok advice needed
Hello and thanks for looking in,
I have been to Thailand three times now but never stopped off in Bangkok always got connecting flights Phuket, Koh Samui and crazy place Pattaya with taxi.
This time I'm going to stay and venture into Bangkok.
However, i normally travel alone, this time i have a mate and his girlfriend it's there first time, sure i will enjoy the company but don't want to be caught in two's company three's a crowd situation. Still my holiday i want to be where i can do what i like and enjoy I’m sure you understand.
Have really treated myself this time and have paid business class with Eva Air comes with free accommodation at the welcome Sawadee Inn for 10 days looking at it pretty basic and how far from the airport and action probably a no go?
So that's my question I've had a little read within the forum there seems to be two places to go with cowboy area given more positive feedback as the place to be.
I go in December so have plenty of time to plan and get this right i have three weeks in total and expect to spend maybe three of fours days of it in Bangkok. So given that i'm looking for a hotel (girl friendly) up to 2000 thb if needed in a lively area which will also be acceptable to my friends to stay.
Any direct advice greatly appreciated so we can all enjoy it when we go there....''

The Sukhumvit area is best for shopping plus either Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy for nightlife. I have usually stayed at Nana Plaza end. Lots of hotels to choose from. The BTS train runs from one end of Sukhumvit to the other anyhow. In Nov I am trying the Majestic Suites based upon a personal recommendation plus reviews from this forum.
Shopping wise I always buy my holiday clobber (t shirts & shorts) whilst in BKK. Lots of good shops. The Central Department store at Chit Lom and the MBK centre are always worth a visit.
The taxi drive to Sukhumvit should be around 30 - 40 mins depending on traffic. Don't think it was more than 500 baht.
Have a nice time.

Good point TM.....and next trip I will go back to Dynasty Grande Inn as I am staying longer because of this....its about bht700-800 more per room at bht2200 but the rooms are bigger with more comforts and a swiming pool is a must for me in BKK if I am staying for more than an overnighter

Mee too. Will stay Majestic Suites Sept. 19-22. I don't mind about the pool too much, as after BKK, we go to Phuket anyway. And last time I was there, they had a big big salt water pool at the western part of Patong... 555555....

you better watch out Bono, you never know what you will find if you look for the soap in a bathtub with 2 of Alfie's "ladies".

and don't have a bubble bath either. If you do leave the window open. Stinky!
KB, have stayed at Dynasty Grande twice and while a few baht more than what you want to spend it is a good value.
Majestic Suites is hard to get into, not a lot of rooms.
