ill be spender a day/night or two in bkk - i was wondering if someone could give me some directions as to where the hell i need to go to find the night life - lets say ive just gotten into a taxi at the airport - now what? what are the streets called? cheers.

Try and stay on lower Sukhumvit Road around Soi 4! bang in the action!!

Nana Entertainment Plaza is on Soi 4.

Soi Cowboy is further up Sukhumvit between Soi 21 and Soi 23.

Plus lots in between!!

The main street you are looking for is Sukhumvit. There are a number of Sois (Soi = side street) off Sukhumvit (see map below).
There are two main entertainment centers in the Sukhumvit area. Nana is on Soi 4 and Soi Cowboy is between Osoke and Soi 23. The distance between the two is a 10 minute walk, 1 stop with the Sky Train or 50 baht taxi ride. There are more hotels near Nana (or at least more that are recommended on this board). Some hotels (but far from all) are noted on the map. Do a search and you should fined more. Personally I would recommend a reservation in advance.

From the airport it is a 30 minute taxi ride with no traffic and up to 1.5 hour in rush hour. The cost is about 350 baht including tolls and airport fee.

I would check out QBar and Bed Supper Club great night clubs! I had a lot of fun there last time I was in Bangkok.
