Don't hold your breath, minimum of another 18 months.
I won't be using it when it does come in either.
Taxis are the only way to go.

It will be handy if your just popping into the centre for a few hours or travelling light.
Wouldn't fancy using it with a load of baggage or a young family after you have just landed.

When you drive past it doesn't look far off finishing. the big fly in the ointment is that it doesnt link up with the existing system and there probably won't be a KL type traveller friendly fast link with suitable baggage facility. My M8 (yes i do have one!!) is a consulting engineer on the project and I will endeavour to find out more,

From what I've been told you won't even be allowed to take suitcases on there Seems something more for tearful teelaks coming back with their last $$$ departure gift from new boyfriend.

The 'bridge' is there in many places, in many places it's not. Still got to lay track, test commission etc. The extension at Saphan Taksin has had the infrastructure completed for months and is still not close to opening. I would think maybe even 2 years for the rail link. It will link into the existing system at Phayathai.
There is a mani terminal building where City check In will take place at Makkasan. That is a long time from completion. You can see it from the highway into Sukhumvit, White Steel arches for the roof.

5555 yes I thought it was nuts too then the TIT factor sunk in and made me believe it Turns out there are to be two lines - a cheaper and more useful one that actually connects with the existing network and the "express" version which takes people to a new depot at Makkasan (albeit in 15 only mins). No suitcases allowed on the former, for the latter you'll have to go through a baggage check-in on both sides.

Looked a long way off from being completed when I was by it a few weeks ago. Did not see any work being done on it either.

Unless the Thai's are thinking ahead?
Check in for your flight and then your suitcase goes at the rail terminal.
Something similar to what you can do in Hong Kong, Also done it for a flight from London once, Think it was from Paddington station.
