Yeah just don't stay in Khao San, I don't see the point really.

I saw your other thread last week but forgot to post on it. I was going to say be careful in your choice of location in hotel as just going for the cheapest can often turn out to be false economy - if the location is bad you waste lots in taxi fares and a hell of a lot of time just getting around. Personally I won't stay anywhere in BKK not within walking distance of a skytrain stop now.

Very good point Brit. You don't want to spend your time on LOS stuck in traffic.

Just had my first skytrain experience last month and I thought it was great. Clean, efficient, and intuitive.

Have fun!

Yeah the time factor and avoiding the traffic is worth paying extra for IMO but I've found it saves you a few hundred baht every day as well - travel expenses obviously but also things like being able to eat cheaply because of the choice nearby, quickly pop down to 7/11 to stock the minibar, etc.

Agree about skytrain it's awesome, I wish it stayed open later at night though.

D&D Inn is good and the KhaoSan palace as well, just make sure you stay in the new building. Other then that there are so many more good places and because they are so close to eachother its easy to check out a few before making the decision.
