Booking Ahead?

Hi, great forum here, this is my first post.

I'm going to Thailand (BKK) for two weeks from the 16th - my first trip to LOS and my first ever trip alone I'm trying to get some hotels booked through Res24 in the next day or so. I am wondering how much I need to book ahead for the busy Christmas period?

If I can, I'd rather just book the first few days and then make it up as I go along but will i need to book every night in every hotel in advance in order to be sure of getting a room?

I'm flying to BKK, where I'll stay for the most part but I want to go to Pattaya for a few days too before coming back to BKK for my return flight.

Can anyone give me any advice (hopefully not along the lines of "Jeez, you've left it too late; every damn place will be full now!!!") (fingers crossed).....

Thanks
Rob

Don't know about Bangkok. While it could be tough to find your choice hotel, I am sure finding rooms in the big city is manageable. I think Pattaya is going to be tough. Someone, however, wrote once ... "no one sleeps on the beach". I would get going ASAP booking in Pattaya. Actually, I'd say the same for Bangkok.

I have been looking on Last Minute Hotels by Latestays for hotels for my trip at the and of DEC.

They still seem to have hotel rooms for the next day at most of the hotels. I would say that if you want a specific hotel then you should book. But if you do not have a hotel in mind then I think you may be ok.

I have just come back form BKK today. I stayed at a brand new hotel on Sukumvit, Soi 8. Occupancy seems low at the moment. 2699baht per night. When I have time tomorrow I will do a full report on it. It is called Adelphi Suites. Google it fopr a look. Highly recommended for lots of reasons.

Full report tomorrow!!
