Hotel Room Free Upgrade????

Hello,

Going to be staying at the President Soliare and have booked the Platinum Suite was only 3k per night. I am just wondering if anyone has managed to get a free upgrade from this or maybe other hotels have any info on getting a free upgrade.

Is it worth offering the book in staff a few k baht to upgrade you? Instead of paying the full price.
