Ver Random Question - Homeless Soi 4

Hey guys. Apologies for the randomness of this question. Anyway... Last year (2007) in August I stayed at Omni Towers in Soi4 off Sukhumvit - same soi as nana plaza. We were there for a week and walked up and down the road tons of times. On one of the first days we saw a 'katoey' arguing loudly with an apple it was holding. Now I use the term katoey (ladyboy) very loosely here, as basically this was just a homeless thai dude with a beard, wearing an old dress like youd see in a salvation army shop and he had no shoes on. We would quite often see him sleeping on the footpath of Soi 4. From the looks of it, that was his turf and he might still be there to this day. Anyone else seen this dude? Strange question I know, but its one of those things about a trip that just sticks in your mind....

Hey there ratboy

I always stay in Soi4 when i am in bangers, but i have never seen this person you speak about, but along the same lines as you, did anybody see the guy from the middle east who was always hanging around outside golden beer bar, ripped jeans and only a jacket, but always with a bottle of whisky??
I would see him sometimes open up his jacket and apply some BO spray, just to keep from smelling bad .

where are your favourite bars in Soi 4??

Yeah, he/she probably just looks like any other person on soi4. It was the whole animated discussion with an apple, topped off byt the fact he wa sin a dress that made it kinda funny.

Out of any of the bars I went to in bangkok, the office bar was my favourite. Mainly because they played the NRL rugby league when I was there. Got to see the warriors get beaten :-(

Im going back to bangers in May this year, staying at Grande Majectic in Soi2. Last time I went with my mate. This time im taking the mrs, so I will probably be a bit better behaved..

your 'beers after hours' comment brings up another question. whats with that time period during the day where they arent allowed to sell alcohol over there? i went into a couple of 7-11's and all the beer fridge was pretty much under lockdown. we were told they werent allowed to sell booze during some certain hours. they sold it to us anyways and we were never once declined our beer during this time. does it apply to thai/local people only?
