Angelwitch Bangkok - give it a miss, thanks

OK I really like AngelWitch in Pattaya, I am not going to go into the reasons why, but I do like it. It seemed natural when i came to Bangkok, that I tried their original establishment in Nana, so I did.
First impressions it's that its a lot smaller, I would guess its no bigger than Playskool in Patong , or whatever its called now. I went in there, and was served quickly enough. Small stage, 10 - 12 girls doing the Nana Shuffle ( a version of the Pattaya and Patong shuffles) but the girls were pretty, I reckon a whole lot better than the girls in Pattaya. So the Mamasan comes over and sits down next to me and starts chatting. We were talking about the difference between AW in BKK and Pattaya. She admited that the one in BKK was smaller and the show was different...
After a few tunes the girls on the stage change, and the Mamasan calls over a girl called Baa, very pretty southern Thai looks, but she says she is from Isaan. We are getting on great so I buy her a drink.
Five minutes later she says she has to go and dance. WHOA, hang on, I've just bought you a drink, and now you have to go and dance?????? Not good form, I think. So anyway, I think to myself "be cool, and order yourself another drink" So I try and attract a waitresses attention, and she looks straight through me! WTF? I want a beer and you are looking straight at me; what do you think I am waving this (empty) bottle around for? So I think "OK pay the bill and leave" As soon as I pick up the check bin bucket, the waitress is over in a flash to take my money. OK she brings back the change in coins, and I pick up them all up - no tip for anyone. Som nam na!
Outside was the mamasan, and I told her what I thought of the service, and she agreed that something needed to be done.
It appears that the place is for sale - i saw it advertised in the gents toilets in their club in pattaya. I have it from a reliable source (someone I met in a bar) that the owner used to have a thing going with a transvestite called Pim, in whose name the club is. Although he (the other guy, not Pim) has some legal entitlement. The owner, now, has a new wife. He wants out, so he is asking 55M baht. Rather a lot, IMHO. I don't see people rushing to his door.
I actually feel sorry for the girls who work there. Baa seemed really nice, but surely they can't be so short of staff that if a girl is drinking with a customer she has t go back on the stage.

That happened to me when I was there 2 years ago. I was sitting with a gal and everyn time the show on the stage changed she had to go up and dance. The only time she was able to sit with me was when one of their specialty shows was going on.

That sounds so strange reading this. I've been to AngelWitch 2 times past 1,5 years and had a blast.
I thought they had the best shows I've seen so far.

Well, admitted, last time I went together with my wife, but she also found it a great show and we had good fun.
No problems with the drinks, they came fast enough.

Hence, I don't know about buying a drink for the gals and they pop off to dance, but I could imagine with soooo many
girls around in/outside of Nana, you could have a good time even just sit there alone for half'n'hour and enjoy the show without
going through the "where you come from" interview? 5555

Too bad you had a bad expirience Coolhand, I love Angelwitch in Nana and have many friends that enjoy the original venue too. Give it another try when your in town and if you have anymore gripes ask to speak with Dave, the manager, a.k.a 'Dave the Rave' of Bangkok, he's a top bloke and will see you ok in his place for sure.

I usually bring a girl to AW after I BF from somewhere else. It's nice and dark for a pestering warm up and girls seem to have a great time watching the show.

Isnt it normal for a girl on rotation to need to go do her turn at dancing if a Bar fine isnt paid..

I have seen that in Patts, BKK and Patong.. Seems the norm to me in any bar that has a 'stage' and rotation.

Is the Nana original club design and style the same as Pattaya?

I was in Angelwitch Pattaya a few weeks ago and thought the shows were excellent and loved the way the girls "flew" onto the stage via the firemans pole Was planning to visit Angelwitch Nana in April - just figured it would be equally good Coolhands post has got me thinking I might just stick to my second home instead (Soi Cowboy) Enjoy.

Yeah, I'd say you are normally correct - a bar fine paid means she doesn't have to dance her rotation (which in some bars - the old Champions in Pattaya for example) can take 20 to 30 minutes.....

and buying a drink just means she comes back to you after her rotation....but I've seen it where if the bar is quiet a good mamasan will excuse the two or three girls that have drinks and let them keep working their customers.......I think that is what Coolhand was expecting. Enjoy.

BKK AngelWitch is no where near as good as PTT. You should have gone to the BKK one 1st.555

Just take into account with all this critisism that NEP has been there for donkeys years and each venue has had to make do with its units individual size. Pattaya AW was a new build so they could develop it the way it is, with the firemans poles and the tiered bench seating.

Recently on my last trip to LOS I saw the best show in Thailand for many years in AW Bangkok, its titled 'Private Dancer' and to the song by Tina Turner. Very sexy show.

Bar fined this blonde two nights in a row too. She looked fantastic in her leather gear, oooooh !!

you couldn't comapre the two....patts AW is much bigger better and way more organised...BKK one has pretty much had its day..it used to be one of the better ones...but the non showing shows are useless

Agre with LiL they are all on dance rotation unless BF'ed...I've had gals go and dance on me before getting their drink!...solly...muss dance now

Have also seen this of AW BKK ,waik in by myself and can hardly get a second beer , so took in GF and had no problem getting service (I think it is the BG stick together code) or company. I don't think I caught the Private Dancer show so I hope to see it in May. It surprised me how much other BG love thier shows.

All go-go's the girls dance in rotation since its not fair for a girl to sit with a customer while another fills her 'spot'- (they even get fined for missing their place in the rotation) - reckon just bad timing Luke.

If the waitresses did not notice you were ready for another drink thats another issue but even good places have off moments at times. I preferred AW BKK over AW Pattaya - I like the small 'cosy' feel and the girls are HOT!

OK, maybe I was spoiled in Pattaya, but, there, if I was sitting with the girl I had bought a drink for, then she didn't have to dance. Probably different management technique. Looking back though, I seem to recall the girl checking with thee mamasan that it was OK for her to sit through her dance.
The thing that annoyed me was the poor service, and not being able to get a second drink, but quickly turning up to get the check-bin - that's what really got on my wick.
Yes, i agree the girls are hotter. I don't know about the show, since, I couldn't get a second drink!!! I will give the place one more try on Thursday or Friday and see how I get on.

Why bother? Worst bar in Nana with the most irritating staff by far. Been like that for years, I sometimes have to tolerate going in there because of a guests wishes, but it just never gets any better.

A friend and I popped into a go go bar in Patts last year for a couple of beers.

My mate attracted the attention of a very attractive girl who was one of the dancers.

After five or ten minutes she had to go and perform her shift.

My mate just chilled out and enjoyed his freedom and the atmosphere. In fact he didn't pay her that much attention. I made more eye contact with her than he did.

After her stint the girl came back and the next day my friend had another happy story to tell.

Is it possible that there was no rapport between you?

If it happened to me I used to take this personally until I put myself in their shoes. I also need rapport to spend time with them.

I haven't got much right to comment on this thread.

I've been to AW Bangkok and thought it was quite good. From memory there were some beautiful girls there, but I didn't take anyone from there. The service was adequate, nothing special but on the same note I couldn't complain either.

I've never been to Pattaya so I can't comment on AW there. I'd go again though to AW Bangkok.

Perhaps it was just a bad night.
