HELP please

June will be my first time in bangkok, using the search feature it seems magestic suites might be the place to stay (plenty of recomendations) but my question is where is this hotel in relation to nana plaza and cowboy? is it walking distance or do you need to take a cab? is there a better choice closer to the action? I guess as a newbie to bangkok it all looks quite confusing at the moment not having a good grasp of the distances involved. thanks

Majestic suites is 100 meters away from nana, i know this because i can sprint it in 10.13 seconds.

Cowboy would require a Taxi from Soi 4 to 23, could walk but would not waste my time.

Don't worry too much Planter as everything is either close or a short walk or taxi ride.
Stayed at Classic Place Hotel on New Petchburi Road and it was only a 5 -10 minute walk to Nana and the action centre along Sukhumvit Road.
Went along there almost every night and the girls on the street let alone the bars were in the hundreds. Venture into the Sois and the bars and ten fold.
You will have a great time if mongering. You can't go wrong.

Regards

DB

Why take a taxi if you have the Skytrain?

Majestic to cowboy.. around 50bht in taxi and you dont have to climb stairs to et to the train.
No brainer!!

Advice: When getting in a taxi insist on METER, otherwise youll be taken and dont accept a taxi drivers offer of whatever. METER ONLY, or flag the next one down.

above posts have melded Majestic suitwes and Majestic Grande together...they are separate hotels about 500m apart with the grane being an upmarket hotel as the name suggests...the majestic suites is the budget/value hotel

And right between the two of them, is a Nana "must"!

The Guess Bar.

where is this hotel in relation to nana plaza? Put it this way Planter, first time I stayed at Majestic Suites if I had jumped out of my window I would have landed in Nana Plaza. That said, the hotel entrance is on Sukhumvit (Suk) and Nana Plaza entrance is on Soi 4.
where is this hotel in relation to soi cowboy?
Soi Cowboy is on the other side of Sukhumvit an interesting 20 minute walk - you can see the Soi Cowboy entrance from your side of Suk when you get to the intersection of Asoke (Soi 21) and Suk - it is also visible from the skytrain on your left hand side as you pull into Asoke from Nana.

If you get a girl from Cowboy, walk her across Asoke (yeah, always a bit like playing "Frogger") and cross over to the over side of Suk (same side as your hotel) using the Skytrain station stairs and flag down a taxi there to get back to your hotel - I always avoid the taxis waiting at the entry to Cowboy.
is there a better choice closer to the action? Majestic Suites is a very good hotel and very close to the action - drawbacks? For me, no pool and first time arrival can be fun as it is right on Suk with no driveway or car access - the taxi will probably pull onto the sidewalk between a couple of vendors - Majestic Tailors is right next door and both entries look the same - well, that is my defence for the number of times I have walked into the tailor shop.
This map might help - Sukhumvit Area Map Enjoy.

majestic

Yes Planter,
for SC and Nana you will be perfectly fine in the place.
Not for Patpong thoughm but you do not want to go there anyway (or only for SOL in the day).
For Soi 33 try Giottos place.
Try Majestic, you will like.
Have fun,
Mike
