Suggestions hotel reasonable price Bangkok

Any suggestions for me for a hotel in Bangkok near Sukhumvit road for a reasonable price? I am flying to Bangkok 14-5-08 and I am planning to stay in Bangkok for a couple of days and then going to Udon or Patong, depends on what GF wants. Anyone has experience with the Majestic suites and what rates they have ? Any info is welcome.

We're planning on booking at Dynasty Inn near NEP again. Good Hotel, great food on the terrace outside and just a jump
away to play some pool and have fun....stayed there a couple of times now, and looks like we stick to it.
Most importantly, my better half likes it as well...so I guess it's quite girl friendly:-)

I slightly remember it was something around 2k Baht per night last year ....

If you hang in there till 22nd, we might even get together for a drink.

555 it is funny ... to add on it...she's already asking, can we go to Angelwitch to see the show again, last time we missed half of the big one.

Let's see if that can be arranged, I'm usually not so much into GoGo's, you know

Yeah right ;-)

You guys are speaking about 2 different hotels i reckon, dynasty inn on soi 4 or grande just off Soi 4, think its classed as Soi 6, the better one is DIG, have stayed in both and DIG is a class above the other one, rates were about 2.6K couple of months ago.

Yes, I reckon you are right. The one we stayed at is not Grand.
It's on Soi4...

...there you have it, Paulie&Gal always a class better 5555

well I'm always banginn' on about "Dynasty Inn Grande"....I don't even bother to look much anymore but I am quite intrigued by Le Fenix so await M26's visit for a review

I had to stay in Dynasty Inn once as DIG was full.....have to say that to me it was nowhere as good even taking price (1500bht) into account.....about a half point up from the Nana....555

Oh, and I tried not to get involved into that Nana Hotel thread:-)

...and now I'm dragging my wife into same sleezy hotels by the looks...just a half point up...well, we're easily satisfied 555

Haven't booked yet, so I guess better try the DIG then this time ....

555.....read back what I wrote and perhaps an analogy to Nana wasn't the best comparison with the climate in here at the mo' Rob....555

DIG would run you at about 2300 via net in advance so if Dynasty Inn is at 2k you will be very surprised what luxury that little bit extra will get you.....I'm sure the Mrs will be very happy if you give it a try

i've gotta agree with Nels, Nana hotel and Dynasty Inn are much of a muchness with the slight edge going to Dynasty. Both old style rooms that seem to have been around for years with plastic mattress covers which make you sweat yr bollocks off. I quite like the Zenith Hotel up from Bamboo bar almost opposite Grace Hotel (safest hotel in BKK to avoid a bomb)....

I would also like to find a nice hotel on soi 4 around 2k a night as its less distance to walk when pished !!

I still stick with the Majestic Grande Hotel. (soi 2, just down from Marriott)

Really nice rooms, and all amenities. Guest friendly, as well.

I you book in advance through the internet (Agoda Booking), you can get a room for around $85USD, or so. Really nice rooms...4 star, I'd say.

Pool area is sort of small, and adjacent to one of the restaurants, on floor 7. (outdoor seating/ dining, is nice)

I really think it is as nice as the Marriott, at 1/2 the cost.

A lot of "robed people" there, as I think the general manager is from Dubai, or somewhere near. Only two elevators, so sometimes a little wait for them. But never more than a minute or so.

Staff is outstanding, with smiling Thai faces, everywhere.

I give it 2 thumbs up.

(And...you walk out the front door and "Annies" is just 40m straight ahead, on a soi connecting 2 and 4. When you're through there, another 30m down the soi is "Guess Bar" (5555). Once past those two, you're right on Soi Nana. A quick left and there's NEP.))

I might add, that I always try and use "Agoda Booking Service", as they have a pretty decent rewards program. (And, always a very competitive room rate)

One, or two tours ago...I had free rooms in Bangkok and Korat, using their reward points.

I've actually booked through them for the Pattaya Marriott before, and got Agoda and Marriott reward points. (double dipping 5555)

I like Majestic Grande too.....in fact it is probably a step up from DIG in F+F (fixtures + fittings) but so is the price......I have all I want at DIG....the F+F are a good standard without being great (it isn't the Marriott) and the pool, rooms and bathroms are all bigger

Last time I used Adelphi in Soi 8 close to Suk. About 3 minutes walking to Nana BST... that is if you don't stop during the walk to visit Lolita's or Aviva massage. If you cross Suk road (use Nana BST) you are close to the Beer Garden.
Also short walk from Adelphi to Nana E.P. and if you want to go Soi Cowboy it is the next BST station.
There is a "South American" restaurant in the hotel, food not bad. Small pool on the roof (nobody was there).
I took the biggest (most expensive) room at 3499 Baht. Had small kitchen (with washing machine), living room with 34" LCD and stereo/DVD player, bedroom with 32" LCD player, nice bathroom with sepparate bath and shower. Free internet in (executive suites) rooms.

There is a pool in DIG???? well i learn something new everyday.

Nap Inn has probably been suggested, i stayed there before but was put off by the toilet, i am not a fan of being seen while sitting on the pan.
