1st time in bangkok

Hi I fly to Bangkok on friday.
Never been before so know nothing, thats nothing about the place

Well ok I have heard Nana plaza is the place to go for the bar girls.

So can you guys recommend a good hotel near by thats not too expensive, maybe around the 1000 bhat per night mark which is nice and obviously bar girl friendly. lol.

So can I check. Is nana plaza best for hot bar girls? What about soi cowboy and patpong? I really don't know anything about these places other than the names.
I obviously want to avoid the katoeys. So where should i not go too lol.

Cheers for the advice

-Dave

Id suggest Nap Inn / Heidelberg Hotel. They would fit your budget and are clean too. Added bonus is that you could crawl back from NEP if you had a tad too much Mekhong or Singha!! 55555

Debatable... but I love the place 'cos its right in yer face. Soi Cowboy might be worth a visit if you have the time and inclination after NEP. Patpong I dont know what its like these days/

My first time in Bangkok I stayed at the Nana Hotel. It might (WILL) bring about some broad suspicions on this Board, but, to me, every time I have gone back there, it is like a walk down "Nostalgia Lane". Better book early though because they sell out quite fast...

I've now read they are 1,490 per night... push 20 more and they are then competing with the 2,000 per night places IMO, but as of now, it is still a great place to stay for value, although probably not for some....

There's a real sea change in the opinion about where is the best place to go amongst residents.

Ignoring the fact that many residents drink in Soi 33 as a rule the best places are now considered to be

1. Cowboy
2. patpong
3. daylight
4. Nana

the other night we were chatting and of the guys there only one had been to nana in the last 3 months. The guy who had been a few nights earlier said he thought it was shite.

Lately we've made a few excursions down to Patpong. Gone are the tourist rip offs, every bar we went it had a chit signature system, i.e. you signed the ticket before it went in the bin and you are asked to review your bill before it is cashed.

Added to the fact that drinks are 40B cheaper than Nana the evening seemed much cheaper. The bars were all nice and the girl looking good.

As for Cowboy, I was there 3 nights ago and saw the best selection of girls I have seen there in a while. sadly i cannot tell you what bars they were in as I sit outside and watch the world and ddin't set foot in a single bar. The place was also very busy when I went home at 10:30 and a pretty good atmosphere in the air.

The caveat to this is that of course as residents we see things very differently to tourists, but Nana has just pushed it's luck for too long, now they are complaining of poor sales. Will they learn their lesson, doubtful, I'd say another price increase is on the cards.
