2nd time in Bangkok..Landing on May 23th midnight

I have been on this forum daily 3-4hours learning more and more about Thailand and getting ready for my 2nd trip. My first trip was last year 3 days in BKK and I had a great time. I am coming back this time for 9 days and I was planning to stay in BKK but after reading few posts, many people want to be in Pattaya(never been there). Questions I have: Is 9 days too much for BKK and should I check out Pattaya as well. Is the Girls/quality and prices are better in Pattaya ??
Also the plane lands at May 23rd Midnight Friday, How late Cowboy and Nana are open at this time of year?Am I going to get laid first night

Thanks all for your help

Hi PP,

Personally I think 9 days is to long in BKK.

I have been to BKK many times and I believe 3/4 days is enough on any visit.
Bkk has the best clubs and resturants but if you have never been to Pattaya you should definitely go.

Arriving at midnight.........get yourself to NEP( FL's arround everywhere).

As a tourist I'd agree.

As a resident I would live nowhere else.

Hi Pink Panther,

if your plane is landing @ midnight you won't be at Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy before 2:00 am - You might find some FL's roaming around the Nana area but better hit your bed, sleep well after your red eye flight and try to gain some power for the next day.
I would recommend to stay a max. of 3 days in BKK and then hit the road to Pattaya You will find there a fully different night life than in BKK and you have a - at least towel sized - beach across the road.

Whatever you decide to do - enjoy your 9 days in LOS. I will be again in Patong in August/September for a mere 45 days.

carpe diem ........

I am not a city person so I only take in a day of BKK per trip. In 3 trips to LOS I have not stayed in BKK a total of 9 nights yet. It is definitely a place to check out IMO while you are there, but not for too long.

Pattaya seemed to cost less than BKK on hotels, girls, beer, food etc(w/out really shopping around).

What ever you decide I am sure you will have fun.

Plan is changed...Arrive BKK at 23rd midnight, stay 3 nights in BKK at Grand Majesctic and then off to Pattaya on 26th and stay till 1st and then straight to airport for catch flight June 2nd 6am back home.

Still looking for nice quality big rooms hotel in middle of action in Pattaya.

Do you mean "Majestic Grand"? Nice hotel, IMO.

Your flight arrival and departure times suck...24:00 and 06:00.

Hmmmm? Michigan, must be a Northwest Airline traveler. 5555

What does that route look like? I have never flown that airline, but am curious. Have only done United to LOS via a stay in Shanghai, and via a stop over in Tokyo before. Now I prefer the direct Thai flight from JFK in NY to BKK.

NWA route

13hr from Detroit to Tokyo, and after 1hr NW from Tokyo to Bangkok 7 hrs. Leave 330pm detroit and reach 12:05am BKK time.

What are you looking for in a hotel? Pool, wifi etc. Many options in Pattaya(from what I hear). I have only been once, but have read much. I think if you have some specifics people on this board may have some recommendations for you.

I have only stayed at Secrets hotel and will be back there in September. Nice rooms with wifi, but no on site pool. Nice on site bar/restaurant/gogo though. Many hotels, but ones I hear mentioned most are Areca, Pattaya Bay Resort, Flipper....and many others.

For transportation to Pattaya I hear many recommend Mr. Toom. Secrets car service is what I utilized last trip and was nice.
Have Fun!

Through research beforehand, I found this little gem of a place the last/and only time I ever went to Pattaya:

Mark Land Hotel Pattaya in Thailand at Exclusive Rates - DirectRooms

VERY big rooms, and a nice rooftop pool. It is technically a hotel, but I met many locals that actually lived in these rooms full time. They are that big. I guess they rented by the month at reasonable rates. But, it is just a testament to the LT comfort they got out of the place I guess.

Great views and pretty good price too. But, it is NOT in the middle of the action (it is about 2 km north of Walking Street), but there is no need to be really. The song teaws (baht buses), will take you up and down to the main areas for a pittance...

Also, unfortunately, there IS a joiner fee. I think it was 500 baht.

Do I need to be at the gate a ask questions to staff or wait till they offer anything??
