Bangkok Newbie

Hi Everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Bangkok later this year. What I would like to know is, should I book my accommodation beforehand or should I just wing it when there?
I'm going to be there for 10 days, any recomendations on where to stay and what to do would be very helpful.

Any tips for the first time traveler?

Hi Norrad depends on your budget and why you are going to Bkk I'll presume your not wanting to spend to much and your going for the nightlife and just to check it out so you may need to take girls back to the hotel.

Here's a thread from not so long ago.

http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/sh...hlight=Dynasty

Also this place is pretty good around the same area plenty of nightlife etc.

Hi Norrad,

I think that there is no real need to book in advance for Bangkok. You might try a night at the Nana Hotel and, if that does not suit, you can have a look around during the day.

nanabkk@nanahotel.co.th ; I e-mail them for a room for as long as I am in Bangkok and then take it from there.

If you aare looking a bit more upmarket there are loads of top-end hotels around, maybe the Bayoke Sky?

Enjoy

Thanks guys,

My budget is pretty low probably around $3500 US. I want to experience as much as possible in those 10 days.

I really can't wait, time is dragging by so slowly

If your budget is $3,500 for 10 days, you'll have the time of your life.

If you're a newbie, Say at the Nana Hotel. Everyone should stay at the Nana Hotel at least once.

The Nana Hotel is a legend. It's a place of non-stop action, 24 hours a day. At any time of the day or night you should be able to find action in the lobby, massage parlor, coffee shop, beer bar, disco, lobby bar, parking lot, or even the elevator lobby.

On top of all that, the Nana Hotel is immediately across the street from Nana Entertainment Plaza. It just don't get better than that. There's only one hotel located where the Nana Hotel is, and that would be the Nana Hotel.

Perhaps no other subject about Thailand (except how much to pay the girls) can cause a heated discussion to flare up like where is the best place to stay. There are nicer hotels in the area, and there are hotels that are much worse. There are more expensive hotels in the area, and there are hotels that are less expensive. But we're not looking for the hotel with the finest furnishings or the fluffiest pillows; there is time for that when you become an 'old hand.' We're looking to jump into the middle of things and have some fun!

Pieman, a poster on the Pattaya Pages forum, once said, "The whole jamboree (at the Nana Hotel) could provide a massive eye-opener for a newbie to LOS and, very possibly, blow his mind. That is indisputable."

Now, that's what I'm talking about.

Reservations are always a good idea, because the hotel is usually sold out.

Here are a few pics of Deluxe rooms at the Nana.

3500USD for ten days is an obscene amount of money. You will certainly have the time of your life but by looks of the "deluxe" room pictures of that hotel you may want to steer clear as it looks horrible compared to what Bangkok has to offer.

Although i have stayed at the Nana many times and have had no real complaints my personal recomendation is the Honey Hotel on sukhumvit soi 19 Nice clean rooms, nice but small swimming pool area with coffee shop bar, tour shop, good taxi service and idealy located for both soi cowboy and nana plaza bar areas (about 7 mins walk casually) also at the bottom of the road is the robinson dept store where you can purchase anything also 5 minutes walk to the famous eden club on soi 7/1 even has subway station and skytrain stations at bottom of the road for travel to patpong/royal palace/siam square.

Thanks Talbotman, but I've already booked at the Nana. Hear its going to be quite an experience
Just out of curiosity, what else should I do while in Bangkok besides Bar-Girls? After my Budgeting for hotel and food etc. I'm left with about 100 000 Bht. A girl a day would still leave plenty of change
What are the sights and sounds of Bangkok that I really shouldn't miss?

A mate of mine who has been going to LOS for over 20 years highly recommends the Honey hotel for exactly all the reasons listed here.

I chose the Nana because I want the noise and busyness that everyone describes. I come from a small town here on the coast so I want a change
The busier the scene the better
