summarized questions for meeting LBs and more in BKK
Hi all!
I will be traveling to BKK for the first time in my life in first half of August and this will be for one and only reason to meet some sexy LBs. Therefore, I studied the articles written on this forum about all main aspects of stay in BKK and must say that some issues confused me a little more, so I would need to put all of them in questions:
1.)accomodation - Nana hotel is most recommended for its location, but I read many negative reviews about its condition (smell, dirty etc.) Are there any better looking hotels for the same price in this area near NEP?
Also, how does hotel staff react when seeing their guest bringing a LB or bar girl to the room? Is it neccessary to register her too, even if for one night only?
2.)katoeys (LBs) - many posts give warnings about agressive katoyes searching the pockets, even in groups. Since I will be traveling alone and doing all my LB search alone, how can I avoid such situations? How to stay out of trouble at NEP?
3.)I read about 3 most recommended bars for metting LBs (Obsessions, Casanova and Cascades) and read a little about mama-sans. Since I would like to find only a slim, attractive and feminine looking LB, but in pre-op condition, is it OK that I go straight to mama-san asking for such LB? Is that good method or not? Also, where to find mama-san?
The whole idea is that I would like to be the one to choose and not to be surrounded by masculine LBs that I don't like.
4.)NEP is for night-life, but is there a way to find LB during the day?
5.)I read that it isn't recommended to take a taxy from the hotel, because it might be expensive. What is the way of finding taxy other than by asking a hotel staff to do that for me?
6.)What are the recommended shopping points? Herewith I don't mean for souvenirs and local products, but for stuff like digital cameras, books, DVDs etc. I know that there are many fakes sold there, but which places do sell original stuff and is it really cheaper than in Europe?
7.)What is the best method for traveling through the city by day alone in search for shopping and sightseeing if located at Nana district? How safe it is for single person?
8.)How safe it is for single person to go to those LB bars at NEP alone?
Thanks! I am looking forward to see your answers.
Sincerely,
Icey

i think you will find thailand, in general, safe. that being said, just be smart and aware of your surroundings. i dont have any experience with lb's but there is tons of them in the nana parking lot. as far as those bars, ive never been in those lb bars but im sure there is a mamasan you cant alk to. siam sqaure, which is a train ride or short taxi ride is great for shopping. there is also a really big mall for electronics, but i dont rememebr the name

Hi Icey. I have stayed at the Nana hotel plenty of times, though I also know nothing about LBs. I do know a thing or two about being alone in Bangkok though.
The Nana is a bit 'low rent', which is fine for me. It is a little old and tired, but we all have our problems. They are switched on though, guards will check in your company so they will know who is in the hotel, this is a good thing because it means you are fairly safe. You need your hotel to be awake.
I think that being alone in Bangkok is like being alone in any big city, you are a target to an extent so you need to be aware.
Taxis are very cheap in Bangkok and the best way to get around the city.
Enjoy your trip

1) Some of our BM's have given the Majestic the
2) Be careful not to lead them on....ie give them the impression you are going to barfine them and then tell them you changed your mind.....some of them get a wee bit cranky when that happens.
3) Once you walk into a Katoey Bar you will be set upon by at least 3 or 4 of them, you cannot stop that......they are quite proactive in obtaining a punter......just grab a drink and be cool and browse before you buy.
4) ?
5) Taxis in Bkk are not expensive at all....just make sure they have the meter on.
6) Maybe MTB or World Trade Centre....both in Central Bkk
7) It is very safe....Taxi or Skyrail, which is a very quick and clean way of getting around town....plus you keep fit walking up all them stairs.
8) Very safe......except you may get your balls squeezed

Hello,
Here is my advice and don't listen to these people telling you about the surrounding area of Bkk. Here is my experienced in the BKK, do not get a hotel at the Nana Plaza hotel ! It's very true about the smell, smoke and maybe lice as well. Anway if you go to the corner right across the street there is a hotel named " MAJESTIC SUITE ", this is a very nice clean hotel. It's a bit smaller then the Nana Hotel but very clean ( remind me of a smaller Vegas hotel room ). It is guest friendly and their key card advance technology is a plus. Room service is excellent, you can stay with confidence. It is around the corner from the NANA PLAZA entertainment center and across the street from NANA PLAZA HOTEL if you want to party there at night. Go to Angel disco at around 11pm and bar hop at the Nana plaza center around 8pm. These place get crazy around 12pm and everyone will be in the street by 2am. You will have a great time there ! Also take the sky train to PATPONG area as you will find more bars and go go bars. About the Katoey, they usually hang in groups of the same type ( meaning if they all look too good to be true, then stay away ) You will kind of tell the differences between a greal TGs and a Katoey. Just be cool and keep your distance away and you'll won't have a problem. Try to find Soi Cowboy as well, take a cab or a sky train there. It's an interesting place if you like nothing but go go bars. Do not attempt to take a taxi at night around 7pm - 1am as you will find it is impossible if not at all making to your destination because of traffic. If you must travel during those hours please use the sky train, it is way cheaper and faster with air conditioning ! Very easy to use, if you don't know how to take a sky train , just ask any local TGs or BGs. Another cool place to visit is at the SIAM SQUARE, go to the Hard Rock Cafe around 10pm ( use sky train, i think the last sky train is at 12am). The Hard Rock Cafe is a cool place to meet BGs and local TGs, you should have no problem there. Live band playing everynight, this place get pretty pack around 12am. The last time I was there, a table FULL of GIRLS invited me to sit with them ( there was around 8 girls ) but there are A LOT MORE GIRLS there so I declined the offer LOL. Take your time to pick out the best, because there are too many to get stuck with just one LOL... Anyway have fun and don't forget to bring lots of money.

Accommodation: Dynasty Inn is almost as close to NP as Nana Hotel, rooms small but clean and quiet if you get one around the back. Respond to emails promptly for booking (but send deposit payment details via fax). Check the ventialtion port in the bathroom - found 20bht there last time when I was hiding my own cash. No safe in room, leave valuables in deposit boxes behind front desk. Girl friendly - 1 girl at a time (other wise a charge), girls must leave ID at desk.
Manhattan, Soi 22 (I think) - about halfway between NP and Soi Cowboy which is useful (half an hour's walk between the two, typical metered taxi 30bht Manahtten-NP). Also close to Thermae, and Beer Garten (Soi 7). Don't respond to emails, didn't fix broken air con, but rooms large and otherwise comfy. In-room safe. Staff completely ignored my comings (no pun!) and goings with girls (one at a time, no ID, no guest fees) at all hours. Limo. from airport 650bht.
Many BMs have recommended the Majestic Suites - might try them this trip.
Transport & shopping: Cabs okay - make sure you get the journey metered as this saves any misunderstandings on 'agreed' prices at destination. Also less-regulated Tuk-Tuks and suicidal motorcycle taxis if you feel lucky.
Skytrain will get you to many points of interest from Sukhumvit (Nana station etc.). National Stadium will put you outside MKB (MaahKongBoon) which is a HUGE repository of electronics (esp. phones and digital tech.). Before that is Siam Square for other (expensive) shopping and ogling the university girls in their white blouses and short skirts 8^). Also Central Station for pratunam market for less expensive goods and forgeries and the Big C (groceries, clothing).
Change at Central to go north to Mo Chit for the weekend (chatuchak) market. Head South-west to Saphan Taksin (end of branch) to pick up the river tourist boat. For 75bht you get unlimited travel up and down the river by tourist boat (TB) and waterbus (WB) and you get a useful map and guide. Take the TB first to see the sights, get oriented and listen to the guided commentry in broken, sing-song English (Wat Arun is best photographed from the river in the early am). Then hop on and off at will. Wait for the TB if the WB are too crowded. Piers are near the National Museum, Chinatown, Grand Palace, the antiques mall and the principal Wats (temples). You need to get off at an East bank pier and get a cross-river ferry to visit Wat Arun (5bht transfer ferry each way) and the Barge Museum (incl. TB ticket).
Otherwise use metered taxis and buses, just use common-sense as you would in any city. Watch out for ladies-only buses - you won't get shot for getting on one, but you'll be expected to hop-off pretty quick.
Safety: I find Krungthep very friendly and safe, bearing in mind you are a foreigner and easily distinguished from locals, so you stand out, especially if you wander outside the tourist areas. This is not unsafe providing you deport yourself with confidence and and respect for others. Beware of the same dangers you expect in any big city and avoid confrontations - just smile and back off. Don't go with taxi (cab/TT or bike) drivers who promise unequalled experiences at massage parlours or strip shows etc. - you're just asking to get ripped off at best or robbed or worse. But mostly you'll find things very laid-back and wonderful. Learn a few of the nicities in Thai, like "hello", "excuse me", "please", "thank you" etc. You won't stay alone for long 8^)
I'm planning my third trip to Krungthep for most of August with side-trips to Ayatthaya and Kanchanaburi (Kwai bridge and War Museum) and some scuba in the south. Maybe we will trip over one another.
Cheers,
K.

LB in NEP
 Icey,
Enjoy your journey to Bangkok. You will find many hot LB's! I have been enjoying there company for 10 years and things are always improving in the LB department in Bkk.
1. Nana Hotel is just fine and if you don't like it you can find another hotel. There is no problem bringing in one LB. When I have two I first enter with one then the second follows a few minutes later and security calls my room to check with me. Once I give the o.k. she is comes up in more ways than one. They do check I.D.'s which is good.
2. The best places to find LB's are the NEP Go-go's Obsessions, Casanova, Cascades and now Temptations. I have been to all except Temptations which just converted to LB Bar (I will be back for a couple of days Friday) The LB's in the Nana Parking Lot are also o.k. as far as my experience. I personally have not found such stunners in Patpong but some guy's have.
3. Read above for places to find hot LB's. You don't need Mamasan to tell you what you are looking at. Be cool with the LB's in the bars. They will come up to you but just tell them you are just looking and you just want a beer and they normally will leave you alone. Or if you just want to talk to one get them a drink and talk, they are o.k. in the bars don't be scared. Once you spot the one you like make eye contact and ask her over talk to them concerning your wishes. Then head wherever you like. With them or have them show up at pre-determined time.
4. When I want a LB in the daytime I usually call one that I know, so when you meet them at night just get there cell number since everyone seems to have one these days. Sometimes just walk around and you might meet one if you are lucky since they are very common in Bkk.
5. If you need a taxi walk away from the hotel and get one that is passing by since hotel taxis are a rip off. Use the sky train and the subway to get around since they are the quickest and least expensive.
6. For electronics and DVD's head to Panthip Plaza. You can use the Sky train to get there just ask at the station. Tons of electronics there, as far as the price you will know better since you know the price at home. By the way it is walking distance from the sky train stop. (can't recall the name, just ask).
7. Get around via sky train, subway or taxi.
8. It is very safe in NEP for a single guy looking for LB's or girls in general in any bar/go-go as far as my experiences on my self. Just use common sense and you should be o.k. Don't be mean to anyone and treat them as you would like to be treated. This is for anywhere in the world.
I will be there in a few days write me offline if you like and I will let you know how things are going. Happy hunting. I will save some for you. Maybe!

I try and ignore your posts as a rule but I can't let this one go without a reply.
It's been said plenty, the Nana Hotel is a little tired but that does not make it dirty or unhygienic. If you don't like the place then don't go, but suggesting that there are lice about the place is disgusting; totally unfair comment.
You may be a Bangkok expert, but you're not the only bloke in the world that ever went there.

Thanks for the information.
What can you tell me about Majestic Suite's hotel staff, regarding the arrival of guest to my room? How do they react if someone brings girls or katoeys to the hotel room?

Hello Icey:
One other hotel choice that's handy for NEP is the Woraburi Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 4. It's about 10 minutes walk from Nana, or 2 minutes if you can't be bothered with the walk. Quite nice rooms, nice bar and good food, swimming pool on the roof with a bar that often develops into a party at night. And believe me, they don't give a shit about who you bring back with you, or how many!

Go the the local store in BKK and buy yourself a ROACH KILLER SPRAY BOTTLE LOL... No I'm kidding, as far as roaches - never seen it there-. Majestic Suites is by far way cleaner then Nana Hotel and also a budget hotel with guest friendly. My favorite hotel is at the NOVATEL in Siam Square which is very clean and a bit more pricey then the hotels around Nanaplaza. Novatel Hotel has a club at night called CM2 ( a great club btw ) a bit more upscale then the Nanaplaza area and NOT guess friendly. I got a Russian girl there for $ 4000 baht plus 1000 baht for the hotel just to bring her to my room, but it was well worth the money... But you should rather stay at the Majestic Suite and save a lot more money there... GOOD LUCK
