Cool Le Meridien anyone?

Well its finally happened for me...starting to plan a second trip to Phuket and stayed at rydges Amora alast time but found the trip in and out Patong too long.
Has anyone stayed at Le Meridien? Is it bg friendly?
Lastly am a little worried about the weather and havent been able to accurately see what the weather is like this time of year. Im planning on putting in for annual leave for a fortnight leaving next Wednesday from Sydney and having 8 days in Patong and maybe 6 days in Ho Chi Minh for something different.
Any advice on Ho Chi Min as well?
Thanks for youyr help in advance.
I rarely post anything here, but login and read the posts most days as I still cant get LOS out of my head from trip last year.

I believe that Le Meridien has only just re-opened after tsunami. It always charged for visitors and I don't think that their policy will have changed.

It's a resort hotel and designed to keep people there.

You can get a tuk tuk from just outside the main gates to take you into Patong (about five/ten minutes).

I would say try somewhere else - lots of regulars stay at expat or c&n but it depends on your needs.

Try the link for the weather, click on the almanack for the time your going for previous years.

Its usually hot with a few thunder storms this time of year but they dont usually last that long maybe an hour a day.

Also try asking for accomadation in Phuket in the Phuket section as this question is under the bangkok section.

Wink Thanks guys

both mars & bluepaully.
Good advice.
Ive been a reader of this site since my return from Phuket last year but dont post anything to the site, as not living in LOS or being a frequent visitor I dont know that I can add very much....though I do really enjoy the axpat chatter!
After my visit I was completely hooked last year.
I stayed at the Rydges Amora Bang Tao, and whilst not knowing their overnight "friend" policy, I guess in naivety I was accompanied by a friend of quite a few nights, although I was getting home from Patong at 3-4am and there was never any sight of anyone around the premises.
Can they stop you from just bringing a friend up to your room?
Would they also stop you from taking same friend to a restaurant in their resort I wonder?

Overnight guests would be a problem usually. Most of the high end hotels charge a joiner fee and they usually have some type of all night guard who will find you with the girl on the property and then your room might get billed for a joiner. A lot of hotels the BG has to sign in also. Some hotels you book a double and since that is more expensive than a single they do not charge the joiner fee. If the meridien tells you that there is no joiner fee then bring that document with you. If you have a steady BG already and you know that she is going to be with you every night, put her on the reservation. When you ask for a double room make sure they understand that it is a room for 2 people but with 1 large bed, as sometimes they will give you 2 beds also.
