a few book reviews
believe it or not, i didnt just hump and get drunk in LOS. read a few books.
The Comfort Zone-Christopher G Moore:im not a huge fan of his but this book was great. he bases his book on one character, calvino. an expat private eye. this book is pretty good, but what really got me is the title. what he means by this is he calls the LOS nightlife the zone and the main character contemplates his life in the zone. definitely a good read. and the part about the zone will make you think
Thailand Confidential-Jerry Hopkins: usually expat writer talking about his adventures and thoughts on LOS. what set this book apart from other similar books is hes a little more intellectual. gives you some information you might not have known about thailand. like the fact the King is an accomplished sax player. traveled the states way back when and played with the jazz greats. but, fortunately he also has funny stories about LOS we all love
The Smartest People in the Room-this is now a movie about the Enron scandal. fascinating to read just how ruthless and money mongers these people were.
Sleepless in Bnagkok-Ian Quartermaine: thriller based in bangkok and the golden triangle. story ties inot the heroin drug trade. easy read, read in about 1 day total
Breaking Vegas-Ben Mezrich: alot of you readers may know Bringing Down the House. this is basically a regurgitated story of that book. however this author wrote a book-Ugly Americans- about these young ivy league grad students that went to work in Asia and ripped up the stock market and hedge funds over there. great book
well thats all. see there is more to me than just drinking and humping
