Driving songs/music

as I mentioned in a recent thread by M26.........I just love to go driving late at night......give me a crisp clear dark evenning.....a freeway......and some rip tearing music.......and I'll drive out a hundred k's roundtrip to nowhere.... that's of course after I do a search on fixed speed cameras........

some of my favourite songs for this are...........

Roadhouse Blues.....The Doors

Goin' Up Country....Canned Heat

I Love You (I know)..........Yello

Autobahn...........Kraftwerk

Elgar's Cello Concerto

Anyone else have any favourite music they like to drive to...........??????

I don't play much music in the car, but the first Dido album was a constant for a long time. Also my own compilation of Pink Floyd (wish you were here), Drove All Night (Sindy Loopy), All the Small Things (Blink 182), a couple of Eminem tracks and loads of Oasis.

My ultimate driving album would be Woodface by Crowded House, I never get tired of listening to it. I moved house last week and found a cassette of it, I can't play cassettes anymore, and this is the only album that I bought on cassette and CD.

Depends on what kind of driving.. I went through some years when I used to drive dangerously being a young male idiot (but with all modesty I was good at sliding cars, left foot braking, connecting one section to another, etc) and into motorsports etc.. In that kind of mood something loud and pumping electronic.. Crystal method etc..

Been years since I have had the chance to drive rear wheel drive a car hard.. Used to be one of my favorite things, that brake hard, turn in, lighten the back end, feather the power, drift the back end, apex corner with the power down and set your exit line up.. all just out of the point of traction... Leaving the twisty tiny country roads of rural SW UK for the plain dual carrigeways and motorways of Holland was a boring drive.

With me it changes often. Now my CD player has "a South African Story" by Johnny Clegg and Savuka. Great South African rhytms and music.
In my cassette player (yes, my Avensis still has that), I have a self-made tape of the DVD Live in Slane Castle of U2.

I still have no clue of how to put the music of a DVD on to a CD to play in an audio installation.

The title song from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

The line "Our fine four fendered friend" just sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it.

It's uncategorical, a fuel burning oracle, a fantasmagorical machine
It's more than spectacular, to use the vernacular, it's wizard.....it's smashing.....it's keen!

Aye, they don't write them like that anymore! You'll all be singing it later today....mark my words!

Super....................Bye then!

i use to drive back and forth to nyc and boston every weekend, 3 1/2 hours each way
alot of greatest hits kept me company, with my 2 mainstays:

chicago and earth, wind & fire

also, rented a mustang convertible, popped in billy joel's greatest hits and road down highway 1 in california to monterey, that was great!!

The perfect place to drive with good music! I did this drive too in a Mustang Convertible last summer! Went from Frisco to Monterrey. Aboslutely goergeous place. The drive took for ever cause I kept stopping by the roadside to catch the view.

shoulda kept going Lucky7....it gets better lower down IMHO...........but not as good as the Great Ocean Road drive on the south coats of Australia.......

start out in Melbourne (Mav's territory) and you wind your way down to Geelong and then along the coast road as far you wanna take it....past the 12 apostles which are a truly amazing natural wonder......bits of rock stuck out in the ocean........once part of the land until corrosion broke them off.......beautiful scenery....quite similar to Highway 1 drive but better....oh and also drive is on the proper side of the road......55555

Don't need music for this one!!!!

Oh, Yes you do!

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning..........etc

Hi D,

What are the most popular tunes for driving an M1A1 at 40MPH across a barren desert?

'Boom Boom Boom" by the Venga Boys has got to be up there somewhere!

Maybe 'Boom Bang-a-Bang" by that effervesent irritating scouse bird LuLu

Probably favourite is Nancy Sinatra's......'Bang Bang'

Not that you can hear much in a tank, would have to be an I-Pod or something similar!

If I was ever in an M1A1, I would have to put "Bad to the Bone" on repeat.

I like smoke n' lightnin', heavy metal thunder....!!!!!

And so was born the musical genre known as "Heavy Metal."

Only the guy was not Steven Wulf, but John Kay, a Canadian, born in Germany. His band Steppenwolf, was named after the classic novel of that name by the German author Hermann Hesse.

Great tune whether you are winding along the coastal cliffs of Big Sur in a little sportscar, cruisin' down I-5 in your muscle car w/ 426 Hemi and 4-barrel Holley, or layin' a little rubber to impress the chicks as you pull out of Mcdonald's on Sunset Strip, the wheel in one hand and a big Mac in the other!
