James Bond is back!!
Hi BM's
I'm a huge JB fan and just wanted to report to all you fello BM's that I went don't to Central last night to catch Casino Royale (the latest Bond installment) and it was f**king brilliant.
Gone are the days when Q hands Bond an explosive supository, no more vanishing scrotums and no more totally un-f**king believable situations. Excuse my french but I have been dying for the makers of these films to get it right and I'm pleased to report that it's finally appeared in the form of rising star Daniel Craig (Layer Cake).
Now I'm Sean Conery fan and George Lasenby (OHMSS) but never really cared for Roger Moore or Timothy (The C**k) Dalton. Piers Brosnan looked the part but the poor sod was given scripts that Noddy should've been cast for.
Casino Royale is hard hitting, violent, down to earth and plausable. Go see it and be prepared for a different kind of quality flick.
Who's your favourite Bond and why? Favourite Bond girls would be nice too.
My favourites are Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour and Pussy Galore! 5555555
The Fish

There is a rumour going around in Hollywood that the next film's female lead will be named Swallow Nightly.

I was surprised to see that it opened on the same date in Thailand as in the US. So, with the 12-16 hour time difference, it actually came out there before here, in relative terms. That's nice to know.

I went on opening night with bro and girls.. Had hell to get 2 love seats for the 4 of us..
I went in really wanting to like it.. I think Craig has the potential to be a great bond.. Even perhaps (one of) the best (I liked Brosnan but as said Bond was really losing its way.. Goldeneye was ok).. Fave villian has to be Coltraine, loved how he so enjoyed being bad, eating caviar with ******s on each knee.
Massive turn off to the sony promotion.. Product placement was one thing but this was bond with his sony phone, hooking up with his chick with her sony phone, using a sony laptop to look at a sony flat screen while she photo'ed it with a sony digicam.. sony sony SONY !!! By the end I was really sick of this, it wasnt subtle it was ramming sony logo at you non stop, I didnt pay to watch a 2 hour sony commercial..
Also I have to say I got chills looking at that Aston DB-S.. I that was true car lust.. I will score a drive in one of those somehow.. Next time I am back in Europe I will find one.
Somehow even though many elements were right (real bond, real grit, blood, death and emotion) I was somehow not involved..
M was superb, the opening credits with the psychedelic style bond but was good (but no naked dancing chicks in sillouette.. Thought that was a Bond ingredient).. set piece action well done (that parcourt / free running bit round the construction site at beggining) amazing locations.. Cant say why I didnt connect well with it but didnt.. Also felt the end (and more end.. then some more end) needed work. they could have tightened that up either at script or edit stage..

Timothy Dalton gets a lot of stick but I've always thought of him as the best next to Sean Connery. It's odd that this film is getting great reviews for Daniel Craig getting across the cold-blooded violence of Bond when that's pretty much what Dalton was doing...actually if you read the books that's how the Bond character is.

Yeah, i think it was made in Aussie.
Why does it take so long to get movies there?
One reason why i dont go to the cinema in Aussie, cause i have watched most of the movies. Also i dont enjoy the free seating policy.

It takes them a while to complete the frame by frame 180° vertical rotation.

Bond is definitely Back!!!
I've seen the movie and I have to agree with The Fish on this one. Finally all the pieces came together; a good actor; a good script; not too much gadget BS (but I do agree with LivinLoS, far too many Sony ads) and the story-line was believeable.
Re an earlier BM's comments about Timothy Dalton, I believe that 'T.D' personally spooned those two movies and, as a consequence, almost single-handly killed the character off. The scripts and story-lines were good, there weren't 'too' many gadgets but his acting made Bond appear weak and hollow. That sort of actor can be hidden behind a movie with huge special effects and high-tech gadgets but not one that requires a strong presence. I'm not a big guy, but if Timothy Dalton squared up to me I reckon I'd have a go. If Daniel Craig did, I know I wouldn't.
Re which Bond girl is fave - can I have them all... with cream on top?

And I never watch TV/cable movies.
Nothing like the big screen(I like to sit in the 4th row), the booming surround sound w/ big room acoustics, the bigger than life actors with 20 ft high faces in close-up, the reactions of the other theater goers, esp. if it's a comedy, or if the film is so good that everyone cheers when the villain goes down, or claps at the end. And what is a movie without a giant size bag of buttered popcorn and a big ol' Coke!
Of course, movies are a bit pricey these days. But they are not cheap to produce. When the film is a good one, or, at least entertaining, it's worth every penny!

saw the movie, really enjoyed it. If you have ever read the books you would realise that the new Bond's character is much like the character in the books, lots of rough edges.
The chase scene was great, fight scenes very gritty, much more in your face than previous movies. 2 of the scenes were so sudden that they surprised me.
I hope Craig does a few more in the series as he brings nack the Sean Connery style to the franchise that was there in the first movies but started to go away in You Only Live Twice.
Noticed the product placement but no worse than other movies that I can think of and definitely a lot less than most.

Ursula Andress, the original Vesper Lynd in the first "Casino Royale." That was the one where David Niven played James Bond, Orson Welles played Le Chiffre, and Peter Sellers was also in it.
She had one of the most remarkable bodies ever displayed on the silver screen, and the face to go with it.

When I live in Denmark (25 years ago), most movie theaters had assigned seating, different prices for different sections. The balcony was the most expensive.
I used to live above the lobby of the largest theater in Odense (Palads Teatret) and the owner gave me unlimited tickets as long as I waited till 5 minutes before show time. That theater specialized in James Bond re-runs; a new movie every night, then repeat 6 months later.
