it focuses on a different part of the eatrth and its species

simply amazing. with the advanced technology-they are able to get better footage of animals in the wild

A simply amazing show. a must watch for animal lovers

Its shown over here on Hi-def signal. But as I dont have a tv that can show it, I had to settle on watching it on normal BBC.

The hi-def dvd's are out soon too.

It is amazing though. Watching the 'special's' after the show here, where they show how it was filmed was as intresting as the normal show too me. The time the film crews took to film it. WOW

did not get home until late so only caught some of the snow leopard footage and the whale shark and both parts were great. Of course I will miss most of the series as I will be in LOS for 3 consecutive Sundays but am sure that they will show it again.

I was really disappointed in the Galapagos series last week.

I watched the 3 episodes last night and thought it was an excellent show....even watching it on a non HDTV

The slow motion shots of that huge great white shark leaping straight up out of the water with a seal in it's mouth was amazing!

i've read about that scene and missed it twice!!
seeing this episodes makes me feel like a mutt for sitting behind a desk

Every wildlife or nature programme that David Attenborough is involved in is always rivetting viewing. The box set DVD 's of Planet Earth are available in the UK. Super series

I have the box set DVD of this and its my favorite DVD's I own..

Then again I buy the UK natural history stuff all the time.. The blue planet, life of Mammals, life in the undergrowth, all good boxes in the last year or 3..

Planet Earth is simply the Daddy of the lot tho.

I have the BBC book 'Planet Earth' signed by Attenborough. Hanging on to it for a while. If my lad doesn't want it then it will probably end up on E-Bay!

Won it in a charity auction.................Got beaten on the Faldo golf ball and the Manchester United Football!

i got the DVD box set it really is amazing! they did another series before planet earth called blue planet with was amazing too.

I seen most of the Planet earth series here on the BBC... I have to invest in the DVD's.

Finally started to watch this. I'm watching the BBC version. I'd rather watch with the original narration and that guy does a pretty good job.

But of course it is all about the images. Wow. Stunning. I'm not a nature show guy. But this is really worth watching. They make some remarkable shots and I am still wondering how they pulled it off. Some of it would be tricky even with 3d computer models. But to pull it off live...well really well done.

Well worth a watch. It is clear they put a lot of effort into this series and they should be proud of thier work.

that shot has been done to death as there are so many specials out on great whites now and eveyone has that picture or something vey similar.

These are made by the BBC (as is all the best natural history programming period !!) and narrated by David Attenbourough.

Made by BBC Bristol.. Thats where the natural history division is based.

This is a Discovery Channel version that has sigourney weaver doing the narration. Not sure what other changes they made.

Attenbourough isn't hard to understand so not sure why they would bother. Other than bring in a name American's are familiar with.

Bummer.. I guess you could always put the DVD source in the receiver and try to sync the HD files

I am sure your right.. They want US based name recognition for the US audience. Does each episode have the 'making of' 5 or 10 mins after it ??

Personally I rate Attenbourough as a real admirable role model and hero. Hes one of those people I would love to meet. Watched his stuff fascinated since I was a kid.

Also the broadcast seems to have only 11 eps but the BBC DVD Box has 3 more..

I'm viewing a hd-dvd rip and that is based on the original BBC broadcast. No making of. No extra episodes
