Miami Vice: Original Television Series
I've been working my way through season 3 of the miami vice dvd set.
Damn that's an awesome show. I hadn't watched it in 20 years. But it is still better than most things on tv now.
Dark and moody. Good music. Fashion (funny now cause it was so stylish then). Fast cars and boats. Action. And glass block and neon lights never looked so cool.
It was actually a fairly smart show with some political edge as well. One episode had this whole IRA subplot and another as on off the books US forces doing dirty work in central america.
But it is just the style and mood. the recent movie failed to capture that.
great show!

It was one of my favourite fancy dress outfits was Miami Vice! Two of us had the crap nylon Armoni suites, and the outlandish coloured t-shirts that went under them. I always got to be Tubbs! So painting my face and then walking through town did get me alot attention.
But it was ruined when the new film came out a couple of years ago. It lost its 'flair'. So now im back in my A-Team costume's.

Yeah, Great show... I used to love it when I was a nipper...
The Cuban Ladies with all that 80's style and hairdos, Jan Hammer music... Great characters too.
I must check out the DVD's. Cheers for the reminder ATM.

The (main ?) original writer and idea man behind Miami Vice is is an ex dope smuggler and surfer.. Called Allen Wiesbecker.. I exchange email with him from time to time, hes currently down in Oz surf touring and hiding out from problems related to his latest book (cant you get along with anybody).
Read the book "In search of Captain Zero", part smuggler memoirs, part surf travelogue as he heads off in search of an old pirate buddy lost on the coasts of central America to then find him but thats brings another level of unexpected problems.
He seems like a mad old fella.. I think my Brother had (via email) even discussed hooking up with him on Bali to do some surf touring in remote indo..
Did you find the box set here or mail it in ?? If here what DVD guy.. I wouldnt mind skimming through some of them.

This show actually put Miami on the map at the time from a US perspective. Before, most shows/movies were set in LA, NY, Chicago... it really made a huge difference in the way Miami was perceived. Not just as a place to retire mind you, but also as a place where money.... and drugs.... flowed from.. It opened up a lot of people's minds... including mine.
