this is adapted from a book written by Dennis Lehanne
same author who wrote Mystic River

it is directed by Ben Affleck and stars his bro, Casey Affleck

i will say, it holds up well against the book, which is always hard to do

one other thing is Affleck nailed this area of Boston that it was shot. people wouldnt outside of Boston wouldnt notice it though

to me it seems Mystic River was trying to be a Boston movie whereas this was a Boston movie

anyways, Casey actually does a good, although his character was a little differently portayed than in the book

i thought it was a good movie

There is a lot of filming going on in Boston this year (due to tax incentives among other things). We should be seeing at least a half a dozen shows coming from there this year.

Also, Oliver Stone will be back in Thailand shooting Pinkville a story about the My Lai massacre (surprise). I think old partner and 2x Academy Award winner (Aviator, JFK) Bob Richardson will be the Director of Photography on this. They have worked together in the past on Platoon, Born on the Fouth of July, JFK, The Doors, Talk Radio, Wall Street, Heaven and Earth, Natural Born Killers, Nixon, and Salvador.

That's quite a relationship.

opens next week here M26....looking forward to seeing it....Lehane is a great writer and I am very interested to see Ben Affleck direct his brother....

The release here in the UK has been totally shelved because the girl in the film has a large resemblence to MAddie who went missing in Portugal. Although Disney pulled it with the support of Affleck and the family.

Jonny, i think you see the difference in the 2 movies ince you lived in some of the same type neighborhoods here
alot of characters in the movie and all real Boston people

read the book on the beach most days and finished it wed......and watched the movie 2 nites ago...the book was superb..the movie..so so ............ij
