Thumbs up Wanted

I saw this film today, I was expecting a lot and was not disappointed.
The visual effects are great including watching Angelina Jolie doing her stuff that she does so well what a bad ass she is.
The story line is good, has plenty of twists rite until the end just when i thought the ending was so predictable they finished off leaving me very satisfied as I left the cinema. Best film iv seen this year I highly recommend it.
IMDb Video: Wanted

looks like a lot of bullet bending in the trailer but I've got it marked down as a see...seems to have a bit of the Mr + Mrs Smith flavour to it

when i was at SFX Central last week saw 2 posters on entering the cinema advertising 2 movies. One was the new James Bond film due to be shown in November and the other called Bangkok Dangerous with lead actor Nicholas Cage, also looks good...

'Wanted' will be on the list for next Wednesdays Fuji/movie night, although as Nels rightly said the bending bullet trailers seem a little OTT but we'll see...

I've got that one down as a see too LiL......hope all the good stuff hasn't been used up in the trailers!!!!.....maybe I'll wait for you and MissB to act as guinea pigs....make sure you let us know how it plays out...starts here next week

gotta say I like the premise....a superhero who couldn't give a toss for humanity....my kinda SH....be interesting to see if it can sustain the 100 minutes

BTW agree with your "Hulk" synopsis...saw it alst week and really enjoyed it.....as you said just a shade below "Iron Man"...its good to see the Marvel stuff lifting a notch

I'm having a hard time finding any Will Smith movie that I didn't enjoy. He's believable in all his roles.

Ok nearly forgot the review...

Overall watchable and it had its moments.. Somewhere around a 3 from 5 I guess.. Has elements of 'Fight club' social angst (probably the best realized part of it) and Matrix'esque action and total disregard for the laws of gravity or the physics of this world. However it doesnt ever really get close to either of those two gems as a sum of its parts.

Freeman was (isnt he always) superb in his role and Jolie is smokin as always.. Was interesting to see the cinema packed on a Thursday much moreso than other openings even big promoed ones like Hulk. Just goes to show what the right 'star power' (or Jolies naked ass in the trailer) does for bums on seats.

Starts interestingly.. Was a good premise.. But then has a long slow lull after the opening setup, they could have really trimmed some fat off the 'training' stage of the character arc (you know the 'have something bad happen' 'train to be a kung fu badass' 'come back and kick ass' school of plot development) and used it in other ways..

The action is good and it does have some plot to pay attention to once it gets rolling again.. I wouldnt say its enough to make fans of the twist happy but it tries... Has an end that lets you walk out feeling closure etc and that makes a change from every other film lately where you can see the setup for the sequels already being worked into it before your out of your seat.

Worth a watch.. Not worth looking forward too with too high expectations.

Wow. What a stinker.

Well, kinda. I liked the first half but found McAvoys character irritating and arrogant.

From the big train set piece I was ...well....bored. It was like being repeatedly slapped by an annoying twat and you couldn't hit back. I dunno, it got more and more preposterous and I am all for suspending belief for a popcorn flick but this just seemed to be seeing how much it took to make the audience say "oh fvck off" and walk out.

On the other hand, I watched The Bank Job on DVD and was not expecting much at all. What a GREAT film! It's like proper old skool british crime capers - believable 70s era and not OTT on the mockey gangster sh1t.

Angelina Jolie looks a little 'hard' in this movie, she is all tatted up and her bodyfat is so low, you can sort of see her skull. She kinda looks like a bargirl who has been doing a lot of yabah. The plot to this movie was incomprehensible. If you read the comic it was based on, I'm sure it would make a lot more sense.

I finally saw this last night. As far as just popcorn action movies go, I thought it was pretty decent. I didn't like the last 20 or so minutes though, it seems like it just undid everything that the movie had been building towards.

The shot Angelina Jolie made at the end where she takes everyone out is where it went downhill for me, but up to that point I was enjoying it. I'd probably watch it again on DVD -- if for nothing else just to hear Morgan Freeman swear like that. For some reason hearing him say "motherf'er" is really funny to me, haha.
