TV and Movie Musical Themes

so whats your favourite musical Themes (seems a little churlish to call them tunes to me) for TV and film

I'm a big fan of The Sopranos theme "Woke up this morning" by Alabama and can't go past Morricone's theme for "The Good The Bad and the Ugly" for film but I've got tons of favourites...

We used to have a crack at some of these when we had a group of mates who all owned synthesizers....we would entertain our friends with "theme nights" years back......just us "the synthesised Orchestra" doing our interpretaion of these on our synths live with projections of our favourite clips on a big screen in the background...was a bit of a hit for a while up to 200 people were attending before we got bored with it

some of the ones we covered included Dr Who (of course), I Spy, Get Smart, Mission Impossible, Wild Thing + I'm your pusher (from Easy Rider), Bond Themes etc

how about yours???

Who could forget.........?

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny Ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
The Skipper brave and sure,
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour.

A three hour tour.

And one of the all-time classic TV shows(all 217 episodes) with the baby-faced Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates!!

Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rollin'
Rawhide

Rain and wind and weather
Hellbent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittals, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Rawhide
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, count 'em out
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
Rawhide

Classic TV Western Shows - Rawhide, Clint Eastwood, Eric Fleming, Shep Whooley

it is not a theme song

but i think the music they play in Entourage during the course of the show just fits so well with the show

and i loved that quirky soundtrack for Juno!!

I like movie music very much. One of my favorite excerpts come from the movie "Legends of the Fall" during a scene when Brad Pitt comes come after a long time with a bunch of horses.
Some other favorite movies themes for me come from the movies:
- Dances with wolves
- Lord of the Rings
- The Godfather
- Da Vince Code

Most of the nicest music parts in movies come when the final titles roll over the screen.

Dallas Theme song always reminds me of the times when I was a good boy, joining the family on the sofa and watch JR's dirty games ;-)

I was always thinking, would I shag Sue Ellen or Pamela? ...always wanted to share a drink with Sue Ellen though;-)

MacGyver! YouTube - MacGyver

Coolest guy on TV ever, I don't care what anyone says. Just so happens his theme is awesome too!

I used to like the A-Team theme too (maybe I have a thing for 80's cheesiness) but at a tradeshow a few years back that I was working at I got stuck in a booth next to a vendor who was for some unknown reason playing the A-Team themesong on a loop... for 10 hours a day... 4 days in a row.

Needless to say after that I was not so much a fan!

Edit: Oh and my childhood favorite: YouTube - David the Gnome

Back to childhood, my brother used to sh!t himself when the theme music started and run out the room at the start of the original Doctor Who.

Doesn't get much better than "Aqua Marina" the end credits to Stingray though>>>

Ennio Morricone sure ranks up there. This from one of my top five movies of all times Cinema Paradiso. Just doesn’t get much better than this.
