The Phillippines
Heard good reports on this place and perhaps this destination is the breath of fresh air i need for some R & R next time im out asia way.
Looking at a resort that is more patong than pattaya but more
importantly im interested in you guys views on the place (those who have been!)
Things like the price of beer , women! , the karma of the place ( cant believe
i said that !) , transportation , food and drink and how the locals act to
tourists.

I wrote an AC (Angeles City) trip report in October 06 and Dojoden also has written a useful TR last year.

Here is a link to K2's trip report
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/bo...ct-2006-a.html
I don't know if you'll be able to see it as you have only posted 5 times.
In short though. Filipinas are quite nice, speak good English in general, when you fine a lady from a bar, the fine includes her "fee" meaning whatever you give her the next day is just tip.

I've never been to Angeles, or the Philippines for that matter, but after reading the report and Googling a bit, my newbie impression is that Angeles is more of a "Pattaya" than a "Patong".
Is there much else to do there other than chasing birds?
Are the girls clean and is the environment generally safe?

A review of AC from a guy who lives in Pattaya 6 months a year. He is from San Francisco.
Hotel (i forgot the day rate, but I went through a LOT of towels)6 days with minibar usage, and extra towel charge was exactly 8000 pesos. so .... 1,334 pesos a day and that's with average minibar usage and about 3 extra towels a day ... cause I was a ST and LT man!
35.5 baht to 1 US dollar -49 pesos to 1 US dollar hotel was about 966 baht a day
in Pattaya ... moto is 40 baht,in AC, a trike (moto with a side car) is 50 pesos (40 baht)
in Pattaya, a Songtaew is 10 baht,in AC, a Jeepny is 7 pesos (5 baht)
Songtaew in Pattaya ... you pay when you get off, Jeepny in AC, you pay when you get on
drinks were cheaper, by a little bit, A bottle of Tiger Draft Beer in Pattaya is 95 baht
a bottle of San Miguel Light is 85 pesos (62 baht)
THE GIRLS
Pattaya, you pay a barfine and then tip the lady in the morning, AC, you pay a bigger barfine, then a smaller tip in the morning, So, say, Pattaya barfine is 500 baht, and you tip the girl 1500 baht in the morning ... total of 2000 baht, AC, you pay 1200 pesos barfine, and say the girl rocked your world and you tip her 500 pesos in the morning ... total of 1700 pesos (1232 baht), So, overall the girls are a bit cheaper in AC
Food ... I thought was about the same, considering you are probably eating farang food in Pattaya as well as in AC. best overall impression of Pattaya vs AC ... same cost all in from a tourist perspective. apples & oranges, now, there's a lot more to do in Pattaya
in AC, there a lot of ****ing to do, and drinking, and .... that's about it!
At least there's a plethora of daytime activities other than drinking and sex to do in Pattaya
a plus I liked about AC vs Pattaya ... the AC girls love to swim, all wear two piece bikini's, and are happy to go swimming (if the water isn't too cold) .... the Thai girls generally don't like the water, can't swim, and wear one piece bikini's. bikini cost in both places is about the same
cost of a bikini in Pattaya ... 150 baht, cost of a bikini in AC ... 200 pesos (145 baht)

I have been to the PI 4 times.
AC is in the middle of nowhere, 2 hours from the nearest beach, and has very few daytime activities.
Manila is like a very small Bangkok, big city but much smaller fun area, and the city is much less interesting culturally.
Boracay, PI's Phuket, is a much quieter, smaller island, with not a lot of things to do that aren't water activities. Beautiful beach though. A few bars and clubs but very few ladies and no other venues to meet them in. Good place to take someone.
Have not been to Cebu but supposed to be some stuff there.
Puerto Galera has some really good scuba diving and a small nightlife scene.
As far as I am concerned there are more things to do on your vacation in LOS than in the PI, and most of the beach areas that offer things to do at night are nicer.
As for the ladies, way more stunners in LOS but much easier to get a GFE in the PI. Also, in the PI ladies are not looking to go out for the night after they leave their bar as compared to the ladies in LOS.
Hope this is o'k for the forum but will understand if you have to delete or edit it.

I've only been to AC once but I'd agree it's more like Pattaya than Patong as there is very little to do during the day except for the hobby. AC doesn't even have a beach around but there are some malls.

AC is more like Pattaya for sure - Manila is not much fun unless your asian (Makati/Malati has nightlife geared for Japanese/Koreans/Chinese) - there is some farnag centered nightlife - life LA Cafe and EDSA center but its not fun travelling in Manila.
AC - is all about drinking (go-go's mainly) and #@%&ing. The new mega-mall SM Mall has some good shopping and there are a couple of decent golf courses, but as Seafox has said beaches are 2 hours away.
I think Phils women make better GFE than TG and easy to communicate with as all speak english very well. Looks wise - its all in the eye of the beholder.
After reading IJ - I think Patts needs investingating .

Thanks K2.
Yeah I agree. I am still very much a newbie when it comes to Pattaya (only been the once) so I think it will be a long long time before I get the urge to experiment elsewhere.
I trust Tony Thiager has got some good insights from this thread.

I have indeed Bello , thats why i came back to this forum as the info given
is pretty much spot on when i need advice.
Looking at it after the information given from the kind gents i will
just stick with L.O.S for the time being..
I originally 1st visited thailand in about 1998 (cant exactly remember the year )
and headed to pattaya.. of course i returned a few times but the novelty
wore off!
Too much hussle bussle and too many sharks !
decided to give Patong a bash and have stayed at soi sansabai everytime
with tai pan health club offering a nice pool for a bit of chillout before
going out on the pull!

Better known as Puerto Galera, as previously mentioned.
4 go gos, 3 good. Sunset is mediocre. Some FL's. More expensive than Manila and AC as BF is 1000 pesos to begin with up to 11PM, after that 500 pesos but only 100-120 ladies around so worth spending the extra money early.

AC is the defo place to be as stated by a few of the BM above. I went there by myself and quickly made friends witha load of expats. Had instant mates to party with everynight. Very friendly place, loads of fun and birds. Not much to do in the daytime but sleep and shag. Manila I was not impressed with. Not even the LA Cafe. the had a few live houses and such but I was to cheap to pay to get in. Stick with AC.

The new Angeles Hotel
If you go to Angeles, you have to go to the amazing Angeles Beach Club Hotel (ABC Hotel)
It's a new 53 room, 5 star quality hotel in the center of all the bars. It has become quite an attraction, as it's a really beautiful and unique building. A huge contrast to the grim city.
The rooms are really fantastic and amazingly cozy, just have a look at the pics on their site: ABC Hotel, Premiere Hotel in Angeles City, Angeles City Philippines
One of the most exciting things is that they have an artificial white sandy beach oasis in the center of the hotel on the pool and jacuzzi. It's the only beach around in Angeles as the city is situated 2 hours from the nearest coast. There's a party going on on the beach almost every day and the girls get pretty wild.
There's an international restaurant, spa, Penthouse Suites and much more
Its a marvelous place to stay, where you can really experience the 'Angeles experience' to the full. It's $95 per night but really worth it.
I recommend you to stay there if you want to have a real taste of Angeles.

As a first pots to this board - seems to be pure advertising which unless given permission by Nicke (owner of this board) is not looked kindly upon.
$95/night for an AC hotel right next to Wobbly Mansion (possible AC's worst hotel) and a vacant lot is not ideal - but ABC is a nice place rather than having a "real taste of Angeles" - a total escape from AC proper!!

Kev., totally agree with you on this. Read a very similar report to this, by a first time poster, on another forum. I will say that I did check out ABC, and it is a nice place, but not to my taste. It is more like a hotel you would find in London or Zurich....heavy, dark wood furniture, ornate, gilt framed pictures, carpeting in the rooms etc. I would much rather stay in an open, airy and light hotel. I stayed at Pacific Breeze, the same people that run Central Park Hotel just opened this place a few months ago. Excellent hotel at half the price of ABC.
As an aside, I really liked the ladies in AC. Overall, much friendlier than their Patong counterparts.

Try typing "Phillipines" into the search function for any other Phillipine threads.
Also, this forum may be of interest to you.

The Phillippines
Hi,
I have not been to AC but had some good time in Merkati. Took a girl out for 4 days and toured Phil with her - Subic Bay and Isabella.
Plan to go now and do Scuba Pro training in Puerto Galera - planned stay 3 months - have permanent Girl from Phil now and will take her with me. Will not stay hotel or resort but local house with rent 10000 to 12000 peso per month!
Local dive company will help find place.
After that I think of settling in Phil for good with her to live and work too.
Any comments or tips?
Thanks,
Wolf

have been to AC in 2003 at the urging of a fellow PI traveler. Stayed at swagman affiliate place. Underground rooms. dark and noisy a/c. low power shower. luke warm water. crappy towels. crappy 30 yo TV.
2 hr bus ride from Manila with 1 wc stop on the highway. AC is an ex-military base from the 70's and looks like it. Dirt and shit everywhere. Action is on 1 main street about 2Km long. Starts off innocent enough with a legit masssage place. I went in and had to listen to a cringe worthy conversation from a yank in the next booth.." do you like it here?".."do you get paid well"..."where is your family".."do you have a boyfriend" etc etc etc...definely a noob.
I wandered up the main drag and had a meal about 8 PM. Then trawled various GB's for 1 hour. All tired and unnatractive girls dancing the same steps to the same music. How Mundane is all this. I read about a famous BJ bar, so I sought it out in high expectation. Turned out to be nothing more than a small cafe. Couple of FL's outside perked up "you want BJ, this is the place..you come with me.." Curious, I accept her kind offer. We go down the road a bit. She says "I have private room" (negating the whole expectation of a BJ Bar). She's young a cute. So I no complain. LEads me down a dark and narrow alley. Here we go I thought. Prepared I was with minimum cash, no cards and photocopy passport. I go into a room with a double bunk. She junps on the lower and starts stripping off. very low light so its hard to see any detail. She shows me the bar rubber mattress on the lower bunk which is now the concrete floor. 10 mins later I'm done and dusted. out the door and back on mainstreet. I see here again later int he night and she even says hello and come back tomorrow.
Next day I leave AC. Somewhat dissapointed. No pools, beaches, fresh air. Just a hot and dry cesspool of sin.
