Firing Range in Phnom Penh
Has anyone been to the firing range in Phnom Penh? Looks like a pretty cool place.

The firing range in PP is well worth a visit if you are into guns. You'll have no problems getting there, all the tuktuk and moto drivers know the place although I recommend you get a taxi because it is on the outskirts of PP past the airport, and it was a very bumpy road when I went there.
By Cambodian standards it is not cheap, you pay $1 US per bullet, which is OK if squeezing off 10 rounds with a pistol, however it can get expensive if you want to blast away with an M-60 or AK-47 on full automatic. The prices for ammunition are non-negotiable, they hand you a menu of prices when you get there. They have everything, M-16, M-60, AK-47, Uzi, shotguns, handguns etc. The only price I found negitiable was for live targets, I managed to get a duck for $15 after initially being charged $20.
If you want some heavy weaponry no problem, I was offered a rocket propelled grenade for $200 a pop or a standard grenade for $50, I'm sure if you wanted a cow to aim at they would accommodate you.
The range is located near the Royal Cambodian Army barracks and I'm sure it's a nice little money earner for somebody in charge.
The safety precautions are a little lax and the guys running the show are a little bit dodgy but it was run in a reasonably professional manner. There are also great photo opportunities if you fancy yourself in a Rambo type pose.
Apart from banging the beatutiful Khmer girls there isn't a whole lot else to do in PP so by all means get to the shooting range.

I intend to have a look there myself next trip.
Would they let you fire a heavy machine gun (say a .5 inch) at a building of some kind? An empty building of course... I suppose they would at the right price?
I wouldn't mind a go at a sniping rifle too... Definitely NOT shooting at anything alive though! Fcuk that...

Alright - you talked me into it. I'm going to PP on the 6th. Not coming back until the 20th though - so I'll report back then. Going to spend some time in Snooky. Thanks for the info.

On second thoughts....
Maybe I'll settle for one shot with an AK. I can think off a few better things to do with $1000
I can only imagine the Craic you would have with 1K about BKK or Patong. (If you spent it "wisely" in one night.)
I just got an idea for a new thread...

I heard it was only $200 to shoot the rocket launcher. That's the main reason I'm going.

$200 US was the going rate to fire an RPG when I was there in August last year, bear in mind that $200 will buy you 10 x LT in Cambodia.

When I was over last week I was offered to go shooting for starting at $100 for the pistol's and rifles. $120 for the machine guns and $150 to $200 for the heavy weapons. If this included Live targets or a ceratin amount of ammo, I don't know as I didn't go!
