For many people thats a real sore point.. And looks like VN once again has its nose to the wind on how to attract expats..

I really have to get up there and have a sniff about..

Tempting to consider if Thailand doesnt get its act together ...

The Ministry of Construction plan applies to foreigners who will stay in Vietnam for a year. They will be allowed to buy and own one house per person over 50 years.

The proposal allows foreign owners to sell without restrictions..

In Vietnam, the state owns the land but gives infinite freehold to its citizens.

About a quarter of the 81,000 expatriates currently living in Vietnam would be eligible to buy houses, said the director of the Housing Management Administration, Nguyen Manh Ha.

Lets see if this law passes - if so well done to progressive Vietnam

somewhere on the coast like Hoi An or Na Trang could be a pretty comparable spot to say Hua Hin for example for lifestyle I suppose....I would probably prefer Sihanoukvile Cambo though by way of comparisons and an easier attitude from authorities

If ya think having a conversation with the Thai MIB or immigration oficials is something to be avoided....you would want to stay well away from their Viet counterparts
