Any info about Kuta, Bali. Heading there in Sept before going to Thailand. Whats a good place to stay in around party central. Looking for a hotel with a decent gym. $60 is a good rate for now.

really no info about bali? i0m also planing to go to bali in april and was looking for some information about girls, hotels etc. but good info is very rare. So i would appreicate some good info about Kuta/Legian or any other recommandation.

guys you might be better served asking direct questions rather than general ones....and also looking into Bali based forums rather tha Phuket Thailand ones.....

US$60 should get you a very god hotel in the Kuta area which is the main nightlife area....but be aware it is not like Thailand where you can pick up local gals in the bars......you will be competing for the tourist women with the other tourist men

some other more quiet tourist parts of the island include Legian + Seminyak on the same(west) coast but a little further up.....Sanur and Chandi Dhasa on the East Coast and the whole of the south coast is one big 5 star conglomerate......these areas do not have much nightlife per se...more like restaurants + local bars etc

Yeah anything direct is easier to answer..

I personally wouldnt stay in Kuta.. Its a bit of a stinkhole and much more fun to visit.. The whole area of Jimaren Kuta Legian Seminyak has merged into one big town these days (tho the airport cuts Jimbaren off a bit) and I would pick jimbaren for quieter / nicer and legian / seminyak for more activity action..

Get a scooter.. Traffic is mad but slow.. Theres so much to do and such a diverse area around you need transport.

For girls the bars around the legian beach area have lots of FL's as do the clubs.. Theres a few obvious streetwalkers also and the massage scene is possible for happy endings in many (theres a fishbowl called bagur ?? out by the ring road).. I am told theres streets with window style girls and resorts with onsite girls and rooms over in Sanur, never checked this scene.

Bali is definately an experience, kinda full on, lots of hussle but superb scenery and things to see.. Pure guesswork but I think working a GFE scene and getting shown around would be a newbies best bet as scoring isnt as direct as Thailand.

I always stay in Sanur when on Bali, much more laid back than the area around the airport but enough bars and restaurants to make it interesting and there is a good live music scene going on there. You will need a scooter to get around but always carry your license and small money, the MIB on Bali are ten times worse than in thailand and will stop you every time they see you, 20,000 Rupiah (2US$) is the going rate but they will try and ask for 200,000 if they think you are good for it.

There are a couple of freelance bars in Sanur thought to be honest you would have to be desperate or really pissed to pick up in those places, stunners they ain't, much better pickings in clubs like Double 6.

I use to go to bali often it just doesnt do it for me anymore, but Im sure you will have a good time.I use to always stay in kuta close to the night life what there was of it..You dont say your age but if your in the 18 - 25 group my son and his mates always stay at the bounty hotel always party time there for the young at heart..Bali Bounty Hotel Kuta :: Hotel Bounty Official Website

What i would like to know, is, if there are any hotels that are not girlfriendly in Kuta/Legian. Had the Mercure Hotel or Kuta Puri Hotel in mind. But there is enough information on other forums about hotels in general. But when it comes to girls, the available information is rather rare.

From my own point of view. I stayed in Bali, Kuta in Summer 2005. Wasn't looking for girls though. But i went of course to nightlife and some bars. I remember one bar with girls inside, but it didn't make a positive impression to me. In the clubs there are FL, so no problem. But a lot of young Aussie crowd there.

I think most hotels will be unfriendly to guests.. I have heard horror stories of needing to bribe in through multiple night watchmen etc..

Except for my first family visit, I have always stayed in either the guesthouse styled digs or self catering houses etc.
